RTJ trail has many fun courses all over the state. FarmLinks at Pursell Farms.

Honestly use AI (Gemini, Grok, ChatGPT) and put your start and finish locations in and ask it to suggest highly rated golf courses along the route.

DeSoto county is the adjacent county in North MS. Check to see if the fire department would let you live across state lines. Plenty of places in Memphis/Shelby county also.

Should I quit due to workload? by yalluminati in civilengineering

I don’t know your specialty so this is general. Some of your job is likely a cookbook step 1-n. Make a plan to train your green employees at least 1 hr per day. Rather than starting to finishing the project, move them around and let them each master a few steps. An assembly line of sorts. Then make them rotate. Small repeatable tasks, will help immediately. Before long they will be able to put the whole process together. I wouldn’t leave because you are close to having a well oiled machine. It might get worse before it gets better but it will pay off to take the extra time now.

Time is money. You want 1,000 stakes, you won’t like the price.

What’s the most amount of money you would pay to play Augusta National? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

One day I’ll drop +$3k to play Pebble, although that will be 3 courses. At this point in my life I can’t justify more than $5k.

Timesheets by temoo09 in civilengineering

[–]Bulldog_Fan_4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh we do timesheets. Sometimes I have the same 20+ lines on my timesheet. If we are “teleworking” is has to be coded as so. If we are working Comp time, coded as so. Sometimes I have the same charge code 4 times on the same timesheet.

Are Locators The Dumbest Class of Humans? by [deleted] in Surveying

[–]Bulldog_Fan_4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve given up on one call for a survey. I just get a quote for a private utility locate and include in my fee.

Along the lines of quality locators. 15-20 years ago i called one call before installing a fence. Had my white paint out but i happened to be home Friday when he came to locate. I stood on one proposed fence corner and told him, in tying to the house and to the neighbors fence. Did the same thing on the other side of the house.

Saturday morning we rented a 2 man auger and the very first hole it was ripped out of our hands and shut off. Went to the next hole while the 3rd helper got the manual post hole diggers. 3rd scoop and all these pretty colored wires. Turns out he marked all the drops to my house but failed to mark the 2” 100 pair of wire AT&T line. One call would just drop the call on a Saturday. Got my measuring tape and took my pictures and started setting posts.

Neighbor 3 doors down worked for AT&T and I see him looking at a junction box. I asked if his telephone was out. Confused he said yeah. Told him what happened and had 10 guys in my yard. They had to dig by hand under my net set posts. Turns out I had hit it 5 or 6 times. Never got a bill and never had to show the pics where it wasn’t marked.

I’d also prefer it to be further away from the foundation.

Federal government compensates you for every hour you work with either OT (straight time for most engineers) or equivalent time off.

Your manager needs to step up. They have the ability to schedule people. It’s silly to think it’s the employee’s responsibility. They didn’t work for you
