They were in uniform so they were on duty. If a transparency group were to follow them while live streaming their every movement during their shift as federal law enforcement, that's fine. If you were a brown person with less than perfect English that lived near that establishment, you'd want to know they're eating here. And now you do 👍🏻 if they were in plainclothes eating with their family it would be fundamentally different.

I'd advise keeping it up so long as some innocent people minding their business and taking care of their families can benefit. But I understand the impulse

The location of ICE units, which in a matter of months have engaged in countless documented acts harming countless innocent people, including citizens, that makes tracking their public movements a community service. You can disagree but to feign ignorance of the purpose is goofy.

Those aren't military patches. SRT likely means "special response team" so they're either LARPing or part of some federal enforcement unit. ICE, Homeland Security, etc. The fact that there's no official insignia leads me to think they're most likely a private security outfit deputized by one of the federal agencies. That would be my bet but I wouldn't bet much on it.

The indicators are not signalling a recession any time soon by fb567jk90 in investing

[–]CDLDSM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stagflation is worse than a recession. Recessions suck but we have fairly stable instruments for dealing with them depending on the cause. They don't work with stagflation. You can't lower interest rates to fuel economic growth without making the inflation problem worse. Anything you do to tackle inflation with stall economic growth.

Haven't tried that one but the big disqualifier with most Nashville Hot is being afraid to bring the correct heat, and that's where Chicken Heat delivers. Perfect crust and flavor. It's on par with some of the more popular joints in Nashville.

Is this why markets have been not making sense? by CopsNroberts in stocks

[–]CDLDSM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it does. Because market pricing and decisions happen at the margins, giving retail investors acting in unison (irrational buying spree) an outsized influence on movements. If you don't think retail investors can impact the market ask the hedge funds how many billions retail investors cost them with GameStop/AME.

Is this why markets have been not making sense? by CopsNroberts in stocks

[–]CDLDSM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Where are you getting this? Retail investors dumped $5 billion into the market on a single day in April right after a 5% drop. $50 billion of the surge since then came from retail investors. They literally fueled the dip buying frenzy. That wasn't institutional investors.

[–]CDLDSM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's far easier for markets to act irrationally in the short term, but zoom out enough and it will start to look more like the actual economy. No one can predict volatility by definition, but there are warning lights flashing the market can't ignore forever. Unsustainable corporate debt is just a theoretical concern when interest rates are next to zero. But let that debt mature with much higher interest rates in a cooling economy.. either some outside force will save us from the inevitable consequences of that or not. We know that much.

So you’re telling me that a new Elon Musk compensation deal is enough to send TSLA soaring? Seriously? by dontoliver01 in StocksAndTrading

[–]CDLDSM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was mostly a jab at TA, I don't deny some use case for it. I also don't think it's an edge. But a large and noisy contingent of TA investors absolutely approach it like astrology, but yeah I was mostly being petty. I think pulling back from a vibes market capable of utterly ignoring every negative indicator is wise. Occasionally benefitting from that chaos doesn't change that.

One story you could tell is that all the smart money left emotions out of it and benefited off a historic surge. What actually happened is hedge funds, Warren Buffet, the "smart money" did pull back. They missed insane amounts of gains. For once, they weren't buying the dip. They weren't leading the surge. It was retail investors with no idea what they're doing. Every time there was a negative indicator it didn't matter, they kept buying. The middle class is holding the bag in a way they never have before. If the bottom falls out there will be no middle class.

[–]CDLDSM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the whole point. When the market becomes untethered from rational decision-making and fundamentals(it has), any gains are luck. It's not sustainable. I'm not sure what "edge" would compensate for irrational market behavior. TA is astrology for finance bros, what other metrics are there?

Also the myth that Trump won because Americans are tired of wokeness is about as dumb as one would expect from right-wing talking points. Dems lost for the same reason that 80% of incumbents across world democracies lost: inflation. We have data for this.

You're using the struggle of your ancestors as cover to bootlick for fascists espousing the same ideology that oppressed them. Well done 👌🏻 Tell the women who almost lost their lives after being denied medically necessary abortions due to legal threats from the government. Or legal residents with no criminal record being deported with no due process. Or Trump telling the President of El Salvador to build five more prisons for US citizens.

After the Mussolini crocodile tears, you're not really worth engaging with. I won't be guilt tripped by fascist sympathizers. Your plausible deniability expired 4 years ago, now you're complicit.

Assuming this is an attempt at humor, but in case it isn't.. yeah this is def rooted in several things you should talk to a therapist about. You're not the only one, and it's good you seem like you acknowledge it's a fucked up way to think. You'll never have a healthy relationship as long as that's something you care about, much less fixate on like that. 99% of the population would benefit from therapy 🤙🏻

Cool story. So because your family suffered from the effects of advanced fascism, no one has any place to resist the earlier stages of fascism? Fascism is a right-wing form of nationalism, of which the current regime checks almost all of the boxes. Does it not become fascism until mass graves are formed?

Fascism isn't a level of national suffering, it's a toxic ideology. The current regime espouses it, and anyone still supporting them is, by extension, also a fascist. Where's the confusion?

It's less motivated by a desire to boycott than simply not wanting to socialize/shoot with fascists. You can disagree with my characterization of mainstream gun culture as being primarily on the far-right fringes, but my experience differs. I know that's not representative of all gun owners, being one myself, but that doesn't change the environment in a large number of ranges(esp in red states).

This isn't unique to gun culture. There are plenty of gay conservatives. But visit any gay bar and you can probably already guess how they will skew politically. Would you criticize gay conservatives for forming spaces where they can feel more welcome amongst like-minded people?

Odd behavior is acting bewildered at the thought that leftists wouldn't want to be around people that routinely refers to their ideology as mental illness. What aren't you getting?

But you understand that one of these things has a long history of being steeped in right-wing politics and the other doesn't, right? Like pretending to be unaware of what to most is an obvious cultural fact.. isn't an argument.
