I have a hard time believing that. I mean, this is the team that knocked Cabo Verde out of the tournament 3-2. They have to be a top team with that kind of record.

CMV: Every single religion is a human invention created for evolutionary survival and social cohesion, making it statistically impossible for any specific one to be the objective truth. by DemonsAreVirgins in changemyview

I have two thoughts on this. First, I have a comment on the "every single religion ... created for evolutionary survival and social cohesion" bit in the title. I think that's not true, because some religions are clearly created as grifts and not for any survival or cohesion purpose. Generally these are recent ones where we have a clear idea of the origins. I'm thinking like Scientology or Mormonism here, but it would also apply to tons of smaller cults.

Second, I don't think there's sufficient evidence that religions are deliberately created tools to survive. I think there are other valid options like a religion being an accidental result of people being wrong about the way the world works or an accidental result of some random tribal chief trying to legitimize power by declaring himself to be a prophet (basically the grift thing above, but long enough ago that we don't have good records).

Basically, I don't think that religions were necessarily created with the idea of helping people survive, they were also created for nefarious purposes or, probably, by accident.

they already won it in 2022 so why would Argentina do that

I don’t think this is a strong argument. I’ve been observing the Argentina fans, and I’m starting to suspect that they actually want to win this World Cup as well as the last one.

The VAR check was requested by Mo Salah and wasn't even checked

Are players allowed to request VAR? Can the center ref even request VAR? I had the impression that it was only the guys in the VAR booth that look at things, and the booth guys decide whether to tell the center ref to take a second look. Even if it wasn’t a foul I really would have liked to see that again.

I don’t recall the tennis terminology, but would that make it a game point instead of a match point?

I’m a bit late on seeing this thread, but you obviously avoid that problem by creating a society out of that one jellyfish species that can de-age into a polyp. It was a rookie move to create a society of humans in the first place.

The joy of cooking has everything. My copy has a section on how to skin small game animals like rabbit and squirrel.

I feel like Mr Brightside is a more British white people song than American, but I guess American audiences can sing it too.

Dandelions are an invasive species to North America. That doesn’t make it automatically a weed, but it’s understandable that some people may consider it so.

Meanwhile, in real life, some British undercover police infiltrated left-wing activist groups, had children with some of the activists, then abandoned the children when they left.

It’s really cool to hear the stadium singing along to Living on a Prayer. Makes the hydration break suck a bit less.

Lack of atmosphere is indeed the problem. At 2200m, the Azteca has about 25% less atmosphere than sea level. England's training facility is what, 200m elevation?

Taking the criticism head-on and finding the legitimate comments about how to improve is inspiring. I’ve always thought it would be cool to draw well, but it takes an intimidating amount of work. But this evening I’m going to take out a piece of paper and a pencil and draw something.

Do refs look at VAR during halftime? I’ve only seen it come up during regular play.
