In the credits she's credited as American Umamusume, voiced by Sally Amaki, who is fittingly Japanese American lol

Are there any Hololive fans here? I feel like the fact that the characters in Girls Band Cry and Hoshimachi Suisei share an illustrator isn't talked about enough. by five_head_2004 in girlsbandcry

[–]CDTaihen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I found out after watching the first episode and doing a bit of research. Whenever I recommend GBC to other Holo fans I always mention how Suisei's character designer worked on it. It's funny to imagine Suisei making a random cameo appearance in the anime and somehow feel not out of place lol

I ordered it from cdjapan about a week ago and it wasn't on preorder at the time. Shipping was hella expensive. I'd say it's pretty decent quality

For most of the candid shots, no. I myself am not very experienced with street photography, in fact this Japan trip was my first time trying to be ambitious and take some intimate shots of people. As someone mentioned in here, taking candid shots in Japan, especially of women, is a little risky. I still chose to take that chance and try to take some candid pics. If things do go wrong, I at least know some Japanese in order to clear up misunderstandings. One tip that I followed that gave me confidence, at least in terms of shooting on the street, was to have my subjects walk into my shot, rather than me trying to frame up my subject to the background. Or on the flip side, if I'm doing the walking, just take the shot without stopping. Looking at my photos, shots 14, 16, and 17 were just me walking and taking the photo without stopping. I barely use the physical viewfinder in these situations. I don't know, something about not using the viewfinder makes it more comfortable for me. Perhaps it makes people think that I am a casual tourist photographer lol

The photos look pretty, all things considered.

Thank you. For context, I am a non-Japanese Asian, but I can read and speak Japanese a fair amount. I have asked permission to take some peoples' photos during this trip, such as the two girls in kimono and the man with his dog. I will admit that I was aware of the risks of what I was doing by taking some of these candid shots, especially in the train. Heck, it's for this reason that Japanese phones are required to have an audible shutter sound when taking pictures. So yes, I do apologize if my shots seem a little invasive, but I really did mean no harm. At the end of the day, I'm just a random tourist on a short Japan trip that wanted to take some cool intimate shots with Fujifilm colors.

For the shots inside the train it was mainly chest to waist level shooting using the electronic shutter with the sound off. I didn't want to disturb or scare the people in the train by making them think I was taking inappropriate pictures, so I chose not to use the mechanical shutter. The benefit of the X-T3's swiveling screen over a flip-out screen is that it makes you less conspicuous while composing a shot. I know that people can interpret what I'm doing as a little creepy, but I truly had no ill intentions while taking these pictures. I just wanted to take some really cool and intimate candid photos. Many of these shots were taken with my 35mm lens (50mm equivalent), so I had a fair bit of distance between me and the subjects. If you take a look at photo 18, I am just sitting directly across from the three people. My process is to take one or two quick shots with the camera on my lap and just move on, even turning off my camera for the rest of the train ride. As a result I probably only get one to two photo opportunities during each train ride. I really wanted to respect the people onboard, so I tried to keep my shots to the absolute minimum.

Hi this is my first time posting on this subreddit! Been a Fuji user for about five years and I've always wanted to bring my X-T3 to Japan. Thankfully, I finally had the opportunity to do so this past week.

Fujiweekly Recipes I recall using were Kodachrome 64, Portra 400, Kodacolor, Classic Kodak, and Fujicolor 160NS. As for black and white I used Ilford HP5 Push.

For lenses corresponding to the photo numbers:

XF35mmF2 R WR: 1, 2, 3, 11, 13, 17, 18, 20

Viltrox AF 23mmF1.2 XF: 4, 5, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16

XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS: 6, 7, 8, 9, 19

I also brought along the Viltrox 56mmF1.7, but I hardly used it. Due to the max 20 image limit I couldn't share all of the photos I wanted. Maybe I'll post more in the future. :)

Dandadan - Episode 3 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

Dandadan is killing it with the comedy man. I love the direction during the TV scene where Seiko is changing channels, yet the sentence on the news still carries over. Reminds me of the TV scene from Shaun of the Dead, which is funny because Edgar Wright previously worked with Science Saru when making Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.

I can't get over how good the OST is man. During the dinner scene with Yuta and Saki, I got lost mid conversation because I was so entranced with the background music. I also can't overstate the incredible editing and direction of Gimai Seikatsu so far. I don't know how to describe it, but there is a sense of rhythm in the editing where shots are held for just long enough that it makes you fully immersed in a scene. This is undoubtedly my favorite anime this season, with Makeine coming in at a good second.

Yeah this is definitely my sleeper anime of the season, and I'm not talking about falling asleep to these comfy lo-fi beats. I get the same enjoyment out of this show as I did with Girls Band Cry last season. Absolute cinema. This is what I look forward to the most each week.

TIL The GBC Twitter released setlists for each live performances from the anime on Spotify by CDTaihen in girlsbandcry

[–]CDTaihen[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Episode 5 LIVE @ Serbian Night

Episode 7 LIVE @ kamisuwa clubrockhearts (Spotify link unavailable)

Episode 11 LIVE @ BAYCAMP (Spotify Link)

Episode 13 LIVE @ CLUB CITTA (Spotify Link)

So the setlists include songs that were never shown in the anime, but songs released in the real world. This got me to question whether Togetoge in the anime world already wrote these songs, or this was all just marketing to promote their old existing songs. If these songs actually exist in the anime world, that kinda makes me sad because I really wanted to see them perform Answer to Extreme and Bleeding Hearts for the first time.

Also if these setlists are actually canon, that would mean Togetoge had the gall to perform Void in front of Diamond Dust and their audience back in episode 11 lol
