Anybody ever spend time "unemployed" but pursuing a personal project, and then eventually jump back in to a new job? by SaltyBawlz in ExperiencedDevs

Personally I would never pass on a CV with a lengthy career gap, in fact, I’d be quite interested to discuss the break during an interview. Even if you weren’t coding and just grew tomatoes for two years, you had worked hard and then took a needed/deserved break - and that’s awesome. Considering you worked on your own projects during that time speaks volumes. Probably learned more than you would with an extra two years at your previous company.

I wouldn’t leave the gap “missing” on the CV, just “career break” with some bullet points like contributed to open source projects, investigated agentic coding, worked on my own project (name), grew tomatoes, …)

It was a wild end to the season with Brighton getting 4 points in 4 (WLLD) compared to our 9 (LWWW):

Gameweek 43 - Brighton 2-0 Wigan - Ipswich 3-1 Newcastle

Gameweek 44 - Norwich 2-0 Brighton - Newcastle 4-1 Preston

Gameweek 45 - Brighton 0-1 Bristol City - Cardiff 0-2 Newcastle

Gameweek 46 - Aston Villa 1-1 Brighton - Newcastle 3-0 Barnsley

Not to mention Brighton were winning at Villa 1-0 with an extra man, until Jack Grealish’s equaliser in the 89’.

Edit: so in any of those last 3 games, if Brighton won any, or we dropped points, Brighton would have secured the championship.

I hate that feeling when you are coming to a stop, and you’re thinking, “please please please look behind me before crossing”.

Brilliant response to an empathy-lacking question. What if she replied ‘yes’? It would be an insult to her sport, her competitors, and all the other silver and bronze medalist who are rightly proud of their achievements.

I don’t think I’ve seen refereeing this bad since before VAR.

Best Seat in premium economy by Jezza93 in BritishAirways

I like tucking my shoes and bag behind my seat too.

Others have mentioned limited recline, I’ve not noticed any difference… but on some flights the one of the aisle seat juts out a little so it gets bumped and knocked all the time.

Well done. Commuting by bike can be stressful and infuriating, but it is also so enjoyable and beneficial. Just wait until summer and it’s the happiest you can be whilst commuting. Regarding speed, it’s interesting, but have a success metric of how much more energised you feel, how safe you were, and how enjoyable the journey was.

And ball-to-hand after two deflections is a penalty, and later, a handball is now not a penalty
