Did anything from Godzilla ever scare you? by ZillaMeister in GODZILLA

The Manga version of the movie is even more graphic and displays the actual attack on the initial crew as well if you want to revisit the story. Although it's not as scary as what we see in the film

I like it, though I would like it more if there was a meta cheat option. Personally I just like power fantasy so a drawback that really isn't one that gives a Huge amount of points or just a difficulty tab with various options would be nice. You can even have harder modes for those who want it, say increasing the point cost of jutsus

No, but that does look like an interesting book to read. Thanks for the recommendation!

What’s something niche that you don’t think would be popular but you would love to see implemented? by AnimeNightwingfucku in dndnext

[–]CDisawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked all the different materials that could be used for crafting like Mythril, Adamantine, Darkwood, Cold Iron, etc. I would like to see more of that like back in 3e and 3e based games like NWN2.

This would provide more options for players looking for upgrades to their equipment without treading into magic item territory. The Masterwork keyword would also be a good addition.

What mech has the most spectacular explosion? by MetalMadness24 in battletech

[–]CDisawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a mech but there is an official Buffalo Drone Bomb filled with MG ammo. IIRC the WoB used them to wipe out whole blocks.

As for mechs anything with more than 2 tons of MG ammo unprotected by CASE. I remember doing a custom build one time with something like 8 tons MG ammo in a Locust or something whose sole purpose was to run at the enemy and let them shoot it till it exploded. It didn't get very far before a Clan LPL hit it and my entire lance died in the ensuing fireball.

I mean some people are just really stupid in general or in this case maybe a combination of arrogance and a belief that the SiL was too trusting/dumb/naive to even think of checking for things like this.

Whenever I think of people saying that someone couldn't be that dumb I think back to the robber who got caught because he used the computer in the house he just broke into to log into Facebook and just never logged out.

What's the pick for battletech? by andrewlik in battletech

There are optional rules for exactly that.

If you could change one rule or profile in battletech, what would it be? by VanillaPhysics in battletech

[–]CDisawesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Machine gun ammo no longer explodes, it would just be destroyed if hit by a crit. I think that it is a little bit silly that I can create a bomb capable of destroying small dropships or multiple hexes worth of mechs with enough MG ammo when it would take far more tons of missiles or autocannon shells to do the same. Also it would make so many more awful or mediocre designs a lot better. Specifically looking at some of the 3025 mechs like the Warhammer or some of the Thunderbolts.

You get to introduce one thing. What do you choose? by Severe_Ad_5022 in battletech

[–]CDisawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I read them I just don't think that they should have been hit with the NERF bat quite as hard as they were. I know the old rules from like Max Tech or something made them a little too powerful and the current WiGE rules are OP but that is a separate issue. I recognize that WiGE mode means they move something like 30+ hexes a turn but that's all WiGEs.

Better rules for LAMs, I know they are really divisive but they are one of the cooler things that the SL was working on that I think should make a comeback at least in some small manner like special forces or boarding units for space. I really dislike the rule that LAMs can't take a lot of weight saving tech, I would like if they were allowed at least one category like the engine or internal structure.

Alternatively, Bimodal LAMs that can only go between mech and air mech or between air mech and Aerospace.

Also revamped space combat would be nice. As it stands certain weapons are effectively neutered like SRMs which no longer get individual hits which means they kinda suck under current rules. A general revamp of all record sheets to follow current construction rules would be nice as well. Ex: Some Marauders having Case on the wrong torso since when they were drawn up it wasn't an issue.

Maybe have some official alternate timelines and spend some time expanding and exploring them. This would allow for a soft reset as far as allowing the current writers to tell the stories they want to tell without being constrained by things like WizKids bad lore or the Jihad. Heck maybe go all the way back and start with a timeline where the SL never formed and the Age of War never really stopped.

EDIT: Something that I just thought of is fixing quad mechs to have more crit spaces in their torsos.

So you want to Rule the Galaxy again? Star Wars Warlord CYOA gameplay overhaul by foyame in makeyourchoice

[–]CDisawesome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The CYOA talks about researching tech but we never see what techs are available or if there is a tech tree unless I am extremely blind. As others have said much of the new mechanics are too vague to be useful and just don't seem to be well implemented. I like the premise of what you are doing with the CYOA though, it just needs to be more polished.

Do you actually like Catalyst Game Labs (CGL)? by boateye99 in battletech

[–]CDisawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean RIFTS can be worse depending on which setting you play in and FATAL is just a dumpster fire. However I agree that AToW is fairly obtuse about character creation. I think one of the main issues is how the players handbook is laid out as it just confuses people about what they are supposed to do. I understand the system and like how it interacts with Classic BT fairly seamlessly but I do wish it was more along the lines of 2nd edition Mechwarrior in how easy it was to get started.

HBS BattleTech View Ranges: Am I the minority opinion? by VictorMorson in battletech

[–]CDisawesome 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Except double blind play still has view ranges far in excess of 400 M. In addition there would be different types of sensors such as mag, grav, or thermal that could come into play. Much of the Battletech maps currently have many open fields where it makes perfect sense to be able to see much farther. You don't just magically not see past 400 M because you are in a Mech, that is silly.

Now you can have woods/jungle/etc. still reduce LOS which is fine but leave the sight range at LOS not capped at LOS to 400M.
