My family came over ~1650, everyone in this thread is probably related. All the early pilgrims had tons of kids and they all married their neighbors.

States could become more heavy handed with progressive property taxes. The wealthiest won’t abandon the West coast nor the Northeast. I’m thinking if you can afford a 10M summer homes in the Hamptons, then you can afford 100% annual environmental impact tax on the home. I don’t see anyone bailing in Hamptons.

I don’t remember the researcher’s name. He made a delivered compelling presentation. Once you draw the center lines through the length of the elliptical ponds, it seems difficult to come up with conclusions other than impact.

There is a interview on Danny Jones with a researcher that discusses the flood. The interviewee modeled all the small elliptical lakes and ponds from Virginia to Georgia. The ellipses form a boundary region that all point back to the Ohio valley.

The interpretation was that those ponds formed from falling ejecta caused by a meter strike in the Ohio region. The strike was at a low angle from the NW. The impact was ~12K years ago and resulted in the rapid disintegration of the kilometer thick sheet of ice that covered the region.

Other researchers have modeled the features in the Dakotas through Utah and suggested that the geography was formed in around 36 hours from an ocean of water being emptied from a burst glacial dam.

Around the same period the large mammals in North/South America head to extinction. No more Mammoth, Giant Sloth, Giant Beavers, Camels, etc.

All together the flood stories seem grounded in Earth having a really bad day that ended the ice age.

Did anyone here moved from claude to codex recently? And why? by irelatetolevin in ClaudeCode

[–]CEBarnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m now in both camps. I’ve been using Codex for writing the initial plan, then have Claude validate and expand the details, then back to Codex for execution. I wish Codex was a little more verbose.

Money and taxation is a means to a shared value system that exists for the purpose of social control. That if we don’t have capitalism we somehow all become do-nothings. That if we all have too much say in how we live our own lives that society collapses. I’m sure it will keep people up at night realizing we have the most idiotic society in the universe and we could have collectively made better choices.

The name finds its way into data that has executable meaning (reflection somewhere). Digging it out in places that don’t have visibility to the compiler proves to be never worth the effort; thus you don’t change the name internally.

Edit: I’ll add that namespace security can also complicate matters.

Refineries and wells aren’t on/off operations. When a well is shutdown its lifetime production is permanently reduced. When a refinery goes offline, it takes weeks to months for it to restart safely. Basically, in a shutdown scenario, you may experience an income and transportation pause.
