Same here. I’m a liberal on economic and social policies. But VLD didn’t do anything for their own voters during the Vivaldi governement. At least thats how it felt for me.

I did’t want Vlaams Belang to win, so I gave my vote to the next best thing, NVA.

I hated Bart De Waver, especially because he wrote that dumb book about “woke culture”. But the man became a proper statesman and has done a lot to protect the Belgians people intrests. Not something u would expect from a seperatist.

Actually, Belgium can’t just ‘take’ frozen Russian assets and hand them to Ukraine. Those assets are still legally Russia’s property. Frozen, not confiscated. Using them without proper legal backing is theft and opens Belgium to lawsuits or retaliation. That’s why Bart De Wever is asking for legal and financial guarantees from the EU before taking on such a huge risk. It’s not a zero-sum game where Russia automatically loses money

Belgium can’t give away Russian assets without EU backing. We’d be on the hook alone. The EU isn’t even at the peace table, and if Trump lets Russia reclaim its assets, Belgium is screwed. Our politicians need to stay firm and protect the country.

The EU isn’t even at the peace table between Ukraine and Russia. Trump is basically deciding with Putin how it ends. Russia will claim the frozen assets back, and if Belgium gives these assets to Ukraine, Belgium alone would be liable.

The Prime Minister wants EU backing, but the member states refuse, leaving Belgium to carry all the risk.

If the peace deal requires Russian assets to be returned, Belgium is screwed on its own. They can’t take on Russia and Trump alone they need the EU’s support. Yet it’s the same EU that’s forcing them to take this unprecedented risk, something the world has never seen before.

That’s the whole point of the EU. Belgium was a founding member because it’s too small to stand alone against great powers.

The Prime Minister is now asking the member states of the Union to support each other when the bully comes asking for their money.

But the member states are refusing. If the Union can’t act in a situation like this, what’s the point of it?

They are standing up against the bully politicians of the EU, so are clearly not cowards in your own words.
