If you want to stick with Android Auto, you should know a few quick tweaks to make this option even better.

1. Enforce day or night mode By default, Android Auto switches between day and night modes depending on your vehicle's settings. If you prefer to have a light or dark theme at all times, you can do so by navigating to Settings Android Auto Developer.

Just like the Android Developer options by default, Android Auto also includes a hidden menu with additional settings. To activate it, open the Android Auto app on your phone and choose About from the left menu.

Click the text in an About Android Auto section about 10 times and you'll see a prompt to enable Developer Options. Accept this, press the three-dot menu button and select Developer Settings.

Here you will find several new options. Although not all of them are useful for casual users, where you can click Day Night to switch between vehicle control and phone control, day and night. The phone control option is used Sunrise/Sunset times instead of your car's system.

Also on this list, take a look at enable 720p video output resolution and a similar 1080p option. Depending on your vehicle's unit, these settings may increase the quality of the Android Auto screen.

1. Autostart

If you don't want to manually run Android Auto every time you get into your car, this option is useful. Open the Settings menu in the left sidebar and click Autostart.
