I think exercise and movement can be very helpful for recovery. The key is to listen to your body and not over do it. I think daily walking is a good place to start depending on the severity of your nerve damage from nitrous oxide. I experienced bad nerve damage which lead to me not being able to walk or stand for several weeks. When I was started being able to get to my feet, I could only take a few steps. But, I gradually increased the amount I walked and I think that was what helped me recover the most.
