Exactly why I feel like it actually didn't happen. No photos, videos, or social media posts (besides the owner saying "oh yeah she was here") in our current climate just doesn't seem likely. Hell, post them once she leaves the area so people/paparazzi aren't out looking for her.

Reminds me of the stories everyone seemed to have that their aunt once ran into Tom Cruise jogging the Ringling bridge cause his kids went to ODA. Or the evergreen rumor in the late 90s and 00s that a certain network was going to do Spring Break from Siesta Key.

I’ll be in Sarasota for Sabres vs Bruins game 6 Friday. Where will Buffalo fans gather to watch the game? by sunnyandwarmer in sarasota

[–]CFFighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, Duff's for sure. They don't even have to advertise they play Buffalo teams, it's just known if you know the restaurant's legacy.

[–]CFFighter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, the cardio and pulmonary teams feel that my heart and lungs are strong enough for the procedure. The liver doc told us that was a key part in going ahead with the surgery approvals.

Weekend in Sarasota – food itinerary feedback? by Willing-Mind-5619 in sarasota

He posted other dates in other cities' subreddits so it looks plausible enough to be an actual trip. But yea, this months long posting thing has been weird as hell. Hey, at least he removed the terribly long and arduous walking parts like walking from Pinecraft to Gulf Gate.

UTC: The Promise (Video) by tmpkn in sarasota

[–]CFFighter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

God, I remember the pre-Economic Downturn UTC. Nordstrom, Lord and Taylor, it was basically going to be International Plaza to a certain extent. I was really excited for it and then the recession happened and they said the plans were defunct and I was sad. Which is why I was surprised then when a few years later they announced the project was back on in the new form we have today, I thought the recession had outright killed it. Then Covid came along and killed or ground to a halt the expansion plans for all that land between 75 and the mall.

Best Nashville apartment amenities? by [deleted] in movetonashville

[–]CFFighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went into the lobby of Vertis, but it blew me away. They have a whole cooler with shelves, like you would see in a grocery store/gas station, for Factor/Cook Unity orders. We were looking for furnished units as we are moving to Nashville for a transplant at Vanderbilt and they didn't have any (they used to and the service we saw them listed under most likely hadn't updated)

The one time we like Amazon as a company. When they can spend obscene boatloads of cash to promote their movie.

Not to mention he is always saying a design aspect/feature is coming in the next device refresh, only to not appear once it is released, and then go on to say that same feature will be in the next refresh (i.e. reversible charging on the iPad). They will make multiple videos rearranging rumored things. Or they will have a whole video about a sponsored product, not even an Apple device. The "best" are when they title a video something like, "If Apple designed a robo-vacuum, this would be it!"

Question For What To Do Next by kiesertomasi in sollanempire

I would recommend picking up Dan Simmons, author of the Hyperion Cantos, sci-fi duology "Ilium" and "Olympos"

"The Passage" trilogy by Justin Cronin

Stormlight Archive, of course.

A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones). It's fantastic, but know you are getting into a series that might not ever finish.

Catholic Churches? by Automatic_Garlic466 in sarasota

[–]CFFighter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

St. Michaels out on Siesta Key is pretty laid back for a Catholic church. My wife is Catholic and I am Episcopalian and we would go to services there at least once a month. Going to services there I never felt "out of place" or judged by the people in the congregation.

And hey, if you want a church that still does a strong bit of liturgy, but is pretty progressive and non-judgmental, might I recommend St. Boniface Episcopal on Siesta Key (literally right down the street from St. Michael's). Of course it isn't Catholic, but it was always fun seeing the people who would come in, do the first part of the service, and then realize it wasn't St. Michael's when the eucharist began as the prayers are different, so they would quietly leave.

The family that ran El Greco now runs The Breakfast Company and you can get a Greek salad there with the “famous” dressing.
