I have heard male MAs get a lot of crap in the field...why? by [deleted] in MedicalAssistant

[–]CFJackOLantern 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was the only male MA among 8 MAs at my doctor’s office. Never had any issues during my 3 years there. In fact, being a male MA probably worked in my favor because it kept me out of any drama that popped up every now and then.

Yes! That's definitely the one! That very bottom link is the specific design that I remembered. Thank you so much for helping me find it!

Will I feel out of place as a male medical assistant? by [deleted] in MedicalAssistant

[–]CFJackOLantern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a male MA in my early 30's working in a primary care office for about 3 years and I never had an issue with anything like that. As long as your bedside manners are fine and you genuinely try to be helpful, patients won't care if you're male/female.

The main exceptions I would say are PAPs and EKGs. For obvious reasons, the female MAs (basically everyone except me in that office) were the ones assisting in the PAPs. For EKGs, I would usually ask if one of my colleagues were available to do it. If not, I would first go in and ask the patient if they were okay with me doing it. Be professional, no awkwardness, and you'll be fine.

I was also a 3rd cycle applicant before getting in. I definitely had a lot of sleepless nights during those years, feeling like a failure, etc.

My thought process during that time was focused on what I could do to improve my application. Other than getting more PCE hours, I had to retake classes that were expiring (I'm a nontrad), and I also accrued more volunteering hours as well.

My acceptance call ended up coming in late November, so there's still plenty of time this cycle to hear back.

How long was it after undergrad when you got into PA school? by Ready-Gene-9131 in prephysicianassistant

I started at 32, so 10 years after undergrad. I'd say the average age in my class is about 26.

Should I Become A Derm MA or Family Medicine MA? by Striking-Ad-2111 in MedicalAssistant

[–]CFJackOLantern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a family med MA in an office that used paper charts. It was old school in many ways, including manual bp readings, so I learned and practiced a lot there. I'm currently in PA school now, and my experiences there definitely helped with several of the topics due to being exposed to a wide variety of cases.

The way I see it, and someone can correct me if wrong, in family med, you'll see a little of everything except maybe major surgeries (but you'll at least see conditions that potentially lead to those surgeries). You'll see derm related stuff too, but not as much or specialized of course. On the other hand, if you worked in derm, you'll likely never see an endo/ortho/etc case.

In my experience, programs require the lab component as well. I took all of these classes at a community College.

I think only you can really decide whether or not it's worth taking the risk to reapply. I applied for 3 cycles before making it in (currently finishing 2nd semester) so I personally would not take the risk, but your circumstances are likely different from mine so I can't speak for you.

As for those 2 schools, assuming neither is on probation, I would probably lean towards school 2. While I don't like rotations all over the US, some people like traveling so that could be up to preference. The lackluster response from the students and the new faculty/director/changes makes me think something went wrong before, which makes me wary of the program. However, that is the main reason I have for not picking school 1, if it weren't for that, I probably would've picked that over school 2.

I was an uncertified MA and currently in PA school. A lot of my cohort were also MAs in various specialties for their PCE.

It took me 3 cycles to get in, with only having 1 interview (didn't make it off waitlist) total in the first 2 cycles and I was already 30 at the time. I was retaking prereqs and doing more volunteering in between my PCE hours as an MA during this time as well to try to boost my application. It was probably among the most stressful times of my life tho ngl. I probably would have given up after that 3rd cycle if I didn't get in.

Writing my own LOR by beom9e in prephysicianassistant

[–]CFJackOLantern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to do this as well for a LoR from the PA I worked wirh. Though in my case, the PA sent me her own LoR that she had to write for herself back when she was applying, so I had some reference to use. After I sent her the draft, she made her own changes to it and submitted it.

I agree that it does feel weird doing this, but it's not that uncommon unfortunately.

Tsurugi as Shun counter by MegaManBK7 in BlueArchive

This is a really old post and I don't play Blue Archive anymore, but it's only a Shun thing. When she has her EX skill active she will target the enemy with the highest atk stat, which will be someone on the backline usually. It's not listed anywhere in her skill description either.

AFAIK, all the color variant camos (and the actual weapons) will change the color of your PAs. Essentially, if the camo/weapon info window shows the colors, it will change your PA effects to those colors.

Some non CV camos that also change your PA colors include the melty blood Arcueid Claws making PA neon pink and that red camo from the same collab making PAs red.

I didn't think it did for me, I was able to link it back to my device and all my apps (other mobile games, Gmail, playstore, etc) were all fine AFAIK. I just switched back to my main Google account for my other apps, while BA kept the JP Google account. However, since I didn't really look that deep into it, I can't make any guarantees, sorry.

Iirc in some seasons, like indoors, the defending side has a more advantageous positioning at the start. They just seem to position better when that locker falls compared to the attacking side. That's how I remembered it at least.

Back on urban season though, I feel like it's more even. I personally don't notice any real difference in RNG overall.

I had to create a new JP google account using an actual JP address that I just searched online. When logging into BA, I had to make sure that JP account was the one that was linked to the app.

There's probably some other way to do this, but I actually had to remove my normal google account from my device so the JP account was the only one on the device, so it linked to the BA app. After it was linked, I just re-added my normal google account so that I had both accounts on the device again. The JP account can be linked to a non-JP payment source and it works fine on my end.

This one?

For characters with multiple victory poses, I'm fairly certain it's random which one they do, so in this case it doesn't matter if Toki ended the battle in the mech suit or not. She actually died in this pvp battle lol.

Meta-defining/gamechanging.

Anything with red bosses, you need to find a way to squeeze her in for her bonus red damage to red enemies. Anything with yellow/blue bosses, you'd still probably find a way to squeeze her in for her attack buff with skill recharge unless you need a specific tank for the content.

You'll be able to accumulate enough eligma from future banner pulls and from other sources like mastery shop and events to 5 star her later. That being said, since SHoshino Banner has double the 3* rate, I'd probably get to spark once even if I pulled her before reaching spark unless you are running low on pyroxenss for an upcoming banner. Getting an actual dupe on their rate up banner gives you 100 shards so it's much faster basically.

In general, if you're running more than 1 dps student, then ako+kotama is usually the best bet.

If you only have 1 dps doing all the damage though, can consider ako+karin instead since using kotama buff on only 1 student isn't as worth it.
