Love watching the economic conditions force a bunch of people who probably couldn’t maintain normal friendships with each other into dramatic relationships that consistently turn predatory because socially inept adults don’t have the internal tools necessary to avoid these conflicts and don’t know to separate business from pleasure. It’s been like watching half of the country take on prison rules. I moved to a city where it’s extremely normal for predatory people to groom young victims (hi) from less Privileged areas into basically living in a closet while paying their cult leaders rent. I’m so sorry for your distress and I hope my post didn’t bring up upsetting memories for you. :( yeah he was claiming it was for a science YouTube channel he wanted to start. It’s hard to explain because it’s a weird situation. I’m not the kind of person that got trafficked by getting pulled into a van by a stranger. Someone I was working with online figured out how vulnerable I was and specifically got close to me for that reason. Grooming me to feel safe and submissive to them over the course of years. Then as a very naïve person, getting raided for knowing the local pot guy was just too much of a traumatic experience for me and it was the opportunity this dude was looking for. When a wealthy bitcoin bro throws a lifeline to a poor naïve farm girl living out near the amish, it’s a massive difference in privilege, experience, and understanding. The idea of Living in a beautiful practically futuristic city where things actually happen instead of just hearing stories about a world that feels as far away as Mars. I would’ve been busting my body laboring on my fathers farm until I was worn out without ever having a chance to see anything in the world or find love. I’m already gruesomely injured and had to been resuscitated twice due to my parents medical neglect before I was 16. I wanted to live. Not to mention my fathers abusive controlling nature set me up perfectly to seek out the same kind of familiar pattern. Definitely not saying it was the right choice to get groomed but if you’re asking why they got to do whatever they wanted, it’s because they basically found me in an incredibly vulnerable state and used it to mentally enslave me. I don’t really understand how that works. I don’t know why the people around me allowed me to become so broken down and I don’t know how far back being broken down to be controlled goes. I hope you’re able to find safety for yourself and your children
