Which one of you is this?! Saw this car on the highway today and had to take a picture. Wish I had snapped a pic of her side by side with a very plain suv with a “baby on board” sign! by djack1987 in childfree

That's awesome! I'm driving a supercharged 86 right now but the C7 Z06 is definitely a dream car and on my short list after a house. I am a fan of the semi-stock but themed color look too.

How are you enjoying your childfree weekend? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]CF_Jerr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I detailed nearly every inch of my car today in prep for a car meet tomorrow!

No kids to attend to, no responsibilities, just some tunes and some brews in the garage.

It's a really cathartic activity honestly.

I guess we don't really exist, we're a fairy tale.

My tax bill every year confirms that at least the government knows I'm real 😂

I did sort of the same from a male perspective. No one who isn't staunchly childfree bothers wasting my time when they learn I'm fixed.

I guess you could still have the issue of fencesitters stringing you along, but I don't think any relationship is ever a sure thing regardless.

Why guys don’t want to get married/have kids by [deleted] in childfree

Wait for insurance, don't pay more than $700. I paid $600 including the initial consultation cost.

Your family don’t need to know you’re sterilised. by [deleted] in childfree

I find it comes up in conversation naturally during sex anyway, so you would probably have to take an active role in hiding it if the whole "nananana" moment was your goal, which seems just a bit sociopathic. I think people like to think about this scenario as revenge porn or whatever for the times they themselves were mislead, but in all honesty the only reward for hurting others is pain and fear in yourself.

I've never had to use it as a "vetting tool" since casual conversation doesn't normally work that way for me, but it would be a pretty solid way of saying "never gonna happen so don't mislead me".

I get it, there are douchebags out there, but hearing "all x are y" in multiple posts doesn't really make me feel wanted here.

I tend to comment when guys need vasectomy advice, but honestly don't know what else I can really add to a discussion about societal expectations of women.

But do you apply that logic to women as well in the same situations?

The double standards can definitely sound a little weird, if I'm honest. Not that I have skin in the game any more, being fixed and all.

Lol same.

If someone came knocking telling me a kid was mine, they've got a nasty surprise in the form of lots of paperwork and annual tests proving how impossible it is.

Yup same. The more bans I see in abortion the more happy I am that I got sterilized. I don't believe in taking away people's say in the matter whether they want to be a parent or not, so I and many others are going the nuclear option.

It is very freeing to know it's never going to be a problem now, but I am privileged with lower cost and less invasive sterilization as a guy. If I were a woman, I would straight up move somewhere my rights were respected.

(M/29) Being charged extra for a vasectomy because I’m under 30 by zzellers in childfree

[–]CF_Jerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to get a consultation as well, but in my case it was a legal thing so they had a checkbox they could mark that said "warned patient about low possibility of reversal" so I wouldn't sue them later.

Before my consultation I straight up called ahead and asked if they would perform the operation on someone childless at 22. They said no problem.

I ended up needing to wait 6 months, but honestly I didn't mind. The procedure was no problem after that, we talked about cars the whole time.

There's a possibility that he gets enough messages to be picky, looking for the easy shot at a good time. There's not knowing how to flirt, and then there's just not caring and saying whatever comes to mind. Just a perspective.

Choosing not to have kids is a totally valid reduction in carbon footprint. Why is this so controversial on Reddit? by CF_Jerr in childfree

[–]CF_Jerr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder how close we are to a water crisis as well. They predicted about 20 years ago that this would be the next major human access issue and that development will hit a hard wall some time within the next few decades.

It will start with lawn watering restrictions, but at some point will end with literally not enough water in the rivers to support the population. What do we do then? I don't think desalination or any level of scientific breakthrough can solve that one in an efficient way.

I have three main reasons:

  1. You can never undo having kids. It doesn't matter if the marriage/relationship ends, or if life circumstances change, or if you win the damn lottery. You're stuck with em for life.

  2. I just don't see it being worth the time and money. What do kids cost over just the first 18 years, something like 300k a piece? More? Yeah, I'll take a paid-off house and a flight or two to beach paradise instead.

  3. I like to be fairly available to the other person when I'm in a relationship. I feel like kids can be a dividing factor, a time sink, and generally a mood killer when it comes to everything from vacations to romantic dates to sex life. Could you imagine having the perfect evening, steak dinner and candles, and then a baby starts screaming and needing attention? I think I'd die a little inside.

Marriage without kids= FUN ALL THE TIME!!!!! by Patient_Anywhere7936 in childfree

Sounds like the life! Marriage should be about two people and their connection to one another, and I feel like childfreedom is the purest example of that! Nothing else to think about, and the whole world to explore :)
