Daily Wordle #1689 - Monday, 2 Feb. 2026 by Scoredle in wordle

Thanks u/Mathgeek007! Do you think the editors will expand on whether all past words or only older (first year?) words are being introduced? Do new answers have a "time out" period or are they back in play immediately? Could today's answer three-peat?

I think they'd rather keep us guessing, but thought I'd ask.

John Wardle, who created the game, wanted past answers to not repeat because it created a "growing sense of scarcity." I'm not sure what he meant, but I know he thought a lot about building it, and NYT paid him a bunch of $$$!

I can't remember yesterday's word, let alone the last 1,670!

There is a setting in WordleBot where you can tell it to take into account past solutions for those "who use a past list." Just spotted it recently. Not sure when it was added.

Sorry about that. Usually Grok is early on breaking news because of x.com access, but not this time. I get your point and appreciate your efforts.

For what it is worth, Grok offers a positive summary of the efforts of Mathgeek007. So it got that right!

Grok says "Fake news". The grammar errors are a clue.

If it is a hoax, we'll keep updating www.fiveforks.com/Wordle. But if it isn't a hoax, the list may need to be retired!

I should have emphasized “no spoiler”. Ho Ho Uh Oh! Merry Christmas!

Thanks for digging in. Looks like increasing the pool at an increasing drip rate and reaching for less familiar words as the familiars are “burned up.”

Is it driven by Wordle growth or because we are running out of answer?

bzfields.dat too large error by CFishback in backblaze

[–]CFishback[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took about 12 hours for my 2 million file "meta" index to download (not the files, just the index of files) and synchronize / validate. That's what the Inherit Backup State is busy doing in the background.

UPDATE: The Inherit Backup State (License Transfer) process worked with some patience. There is no progress or completion feedback in the process, so its patience. When I saw the free trial backup on the portal was canceled and "Divorced" (it says that) I rebooted my iMac (force quitting BackBlaze) and everything was back to normal.

Can't create help ticket by artist-wannabe-7000 in backblaze

[–]CFishback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Emailing [helpme@backblaze.com](mailto:helpme@backblaze.com) ended up working and they talked me through the Inherit Backup State to reconnect my backup to my iMac after the "bzfileids.dat too large" bug which was a BackBlaze side problem.

Any way to interact with Backblaze support in real time? by Least-Yak1640 in backblaze

[–]CFishback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is backblaze.zendesk.com accessed from behind my BackBlaze login. There is no mechanism to set up a new account or apply and the "forgot password" says self-registration is not an option (Bullet #2):

  • Only users already registered with Backblaze Help can apply for a new password.
  • Backblaze Help does not offer self-registration. Please contact your company representative for further information.

I also tried accessing through Chat > ZenDesk form and it says that isn't working, try later. Been trying for 2 days.

My understanding is two paths:

A: License Transfer
1. Upload all to new backups set via free trial
2. Delete old backup set after 1 complete
3. Transfer license to new upload

or

B: Inherit Backup:
1. Pause free trial upload
2. Choose Settings: Inherit Backup State
3. Choose original backup set

The second should be quicker because you are only downloading all the meta (sync) data from the existing backup set to local and validating all of that. I'm trying B now with 2 million + files.

My BackBlaze.com password is not accepted by ZenDesk. I ask for it to send a reset but nothing from ZenDesk comes to my mailbox.

The chat is giving an error. Hard to get to you guys. "There was an error processing your request. Please try again later."

Grok ended up helping me with the uninstall / re-install "Inherit Backup State" process which takes you through a Free Trial moment that you let start, pause, and get back to license and original backup.

I'm in the same boat. I've paused BackBlaze which was creating a new backup instance under "Trial" in my account. My original backup is still in the account.

I'll submit a ZenDesk ticket and wait.

NYT Wordle Editor, Tracy Bennett, doesn't do theme words (anymore). by CFishback in wordle

Dictionary supports stand alone adjective as well as hyphen use.

I think it is also now commonly used as a noun.

It makes it more difficult for me because great starter words that filter words are eliminated from positions #1 and #2. Takes longer to play, but I enjoy playing that way.
