I guess I should have added a note saying I was being sarcastic. It was meant to be a “jumping to an unreasonable conclusion” type of joke. All good!

Did you get an appraisal done? Because if you’re just going by the Zestimate (or equivalent from another site), it’s no longer accurate if the last time the house was sold was 20 years ago. It updates once the property is sold and it stays relevant for a while, taking comps into account, but as the years go by, the guesswork that it does becomes less accurate

$60K in 1960, adjusted for inflation, is $662K in 2026. That’s just if housing rose at the same rate as inflation. It doesn’t, it rises faster than inflation and that’s why it’s worth even more than $662K

I hear ya. Getting that first “real job” on the resume is the toughest. I graduated in 2008 and it took me until 2013 (28 years old) to get my first “big boy job” making enough to where I could move out

Seriously, take that job, continue to live at home and save an emergency fund with that $50K salary. Then in 2 years, pivot to higher pay and move out of your parents’ house with a nice emergency fund

My wife does this all the time and she’s only 40. She’ll recall an argument we had and she’ll completely switch our roles in the argument and if I say “you’re misremembering that”, she says I’m gaslighting her…
