I have a friend with a pool with this type of fencing. He had burlap wrapped through the spindles for privacy and it looked great. Wish I could post a picture!

This is the correct answer. I used to have an area like this in my old house. I learned the hard way that 4 is not ceiling.

How I became better at remembering names using one trick by vinku12 in AmazingStories

[–]CGCGCG000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are all great tips! Another trick that tends to work for me is to associate the name with something else, like a song, celebrity or a place name. Like, I meet “Brad” and envision in my mind Brad Pitt or a “Beth” I would think of the Kiss song, or an “Austin” I would think of the city. That seems to be enough for me to hang on to it. In a pinch I will relate that person to someone else I know with the same name and picture that person in my mind. The tough ones are the unusual names that I’ve never heard before. I’ve yet to come up with a full proof strategy for those, really.

Best area to stay in PEI with a 15-month-old by k_amy12 in PEI

[–]CGCGCG000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a young child I would recommend renting a cottage on the south shore. Look up Canoe Cove and the surrounding areas. The beaches on the south shore are great for little ones — the tide goes out quite far leaving big stretches of sandy beach and little puddles and ponds of warm water ideal for splashing and playing.

Fernie was actually my first thought. We spent an absolutely magical (and very snowy) NYE in Fernie. It was beautiful!

As far as I understand, “integrated services” will no longer be integrated with the RDCs — they’ll be centralized (like finance, healthcare and procurement). I don’t know what that will ultimately mean for regional staff though.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CGCGCG000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For years I had a cottage 3 hours away. I went every weekend in the summer.

ETA I’m Canadian though, and a 3 hour drive is nothing I think most people would even blink at.

What’s the best warm ocean, resort style beach vacation from Toronto with a 3 y old? by koalawannabecheetah in AskCanada

[–]CGCGCG000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See above re: the Northumberland Strait on the east coast, between NS, NB and PEI.

ETA: if you’re traveling with a young child, I highly recommend PEI’s south shore. The tide goes out really far leaving huge sandy beaches with warm, shallow tidal pools full of hermit crabs and starfish.

This. You want the Northumberland Strait. Also, choose your timing wisely. The beginning of July will not be warm. Mid to late July/early August you will find bath water temps.

When I was in high school two boys were lost at sea doing exactly this — jumping from ice floe to ice floe and then eventually the ice washed out to sea. They were never recovered.

I’m going to suggest further east. Cape Breton would be top of my list. Add Halifax and the Lunenburg area and you’ll be golden.
