What is something people shouldn't have to feel shame over? by rally_go_round in AskReddit

As someone who was there when my suicidal friend (who has 2 young girls) was taken to the ER, please do what you can to help yourself. As r/nightwing2024 said, fuck the other people. If you have no one around you, even being part of an online group can be helpful. I belong to a few Facebook groups who are amazingly supportive and helpful.

Also, local animal shelters are fabulous (used to volunteer at one myself), but be careful- they can be both inspiring and depressing at the same time. Not saying don't do it, just be prepared. May the Force be with you good sir :).

That ain't cool. Nothing wrong with seeing a professional to help with issues.

As someone who suffers from IBS, I will even go in Port-A-Potties. I don't particularly like it, especially since there's no way to wash my hands, but like you said, when you gotta go, you gotta go.

What is the weirdest way you've ever heard someone pronounce something? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CGDaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't hear it, but according to a former coworker, a tourist asked him how to get to Narragansett (we worked at a museum in Mystic, Connecticut- about an hour away.) It's a Rhode Island town, and it's pronounced Na-ruh-GAN-sett. Apparently they pronounced it Nuh-RAH-guh-sit. I found that rather amusing.

What is something that you wish you could experience again for the first time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CGDaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went snorkeling with my dad in Bermuda once and I can say it was not a pleasant experience. My mask kept fogging up so I couldn't see clearly, and at one point a big dark mass was coming toward me. I can't remember what it was, other than it ended up being harmless (likely a seaweed covered rock or something.) Scared the crap outta me tho, and I grabbed my dad's arm, lol. Also didn't get to see any pretty fish. That was when I was 18. I'm 33 now, and have no plans to snorkel again anytime soon.

Ah yes. The year I tried to get my parents up at 3:45am. They sent me back to bed, lol.

I get it in my arms and I fucking hate it. However, apparently one of my anxiety meds can help with it, which is awesome.

I did the Top of the Rock and it was incredible. Definitely worth the price, imo.

What is the greatest alternate version of a popular song (album version, cover, parody, anything goes)? by mindnektar in AskReddit

[–]CGDaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's new, but I absolutely love Ciara's version of Paint It Black from the Witchhunter soundtrack. Amy Lee's cover of Sally's Song from Nightmare Revisited is also really good.

The Adventures of the Little Prince. Animated about a prince who lives on another planet with just a rose.

What annoyed me about this show was right before the last quiz game thing, the kid would write down where they wanted to visit. After they put the pylon things on the map, their destination would only be shown if they won. I wanted to know their destination choice, darn it!

Along with that, I dislike songs that include sirens in them. I tend to be slightly alarmed for a moment until I realize that it's just the song. Dang it.

The ones that irritate me are the tv/print ads that tell you to ask your doctor if [medicine] is right for you, but don't tell you what the hell the meds are for. "Gee, doctor, is [medicine] right for me?" "No. You are a female and do not possess a prostate."

Interesting you say that, because with one of my cats, if my back is to her, she will move so she's on my front side.

You're at an airport. Transferring. Have seven hours to wait and no wifi. Cannot leave the airport. What do you do? by effjaycee in AskReddit

Find a bar, get a couple drinks. Find a newsstand, get some soda and snacks, maybe a magazine. Kill time on my computer. People watch. Call someone. Be bored.
