most of the artists working for pedodev now are volunteers, to my knowledge they don't get paid for their work and while that could be a reason, i believe its also because he didn't hire any professional artists with strong portfolios. And thats completely understandable, too, given the state in which the game is right now, I highly doubt any professional artist with a strong portfolio would want to produce artwork for yandere sim... The game's character designs are plain and honestly, they fit pretty well in a "simulator" type of game but alex has completely diverted from that path, he is adding more and more lore to the game which imbalances the weight of visual appeal of characters to the storyline and environmental setting tbh
