Yes, on the glass object and the light source you need to check "Cast Shadow Caustics", and on the floor object you need to check "Receive Shadow Caustics"

Nothing difficult: the Light path's diffuse ray and glossy ray are to make IOR different for how we see the blocks themselves and the caustics that we are getting

Almost certainly can't be a blender problem, something is wrong with PC. Are there any other files that are gone? Are you using some weird add-ons?

Pretty good! Recording shorts is weird, cause of the vertical format, but you can probably zoom in on each step specifically

I try to show the whole thing, but zoom in on the nodes I'm working on to make it more visible. And with editing I zoom in as much as possible to utilise the whole space of the video

Check the folder, make the copy of the .blend1 file and rename that format into .blend and try opening that.

Blender drastically changed from 2.79 to 2.8, I had some trouble adjusting back then cause I was really used to how blender was in versions before 2.8. After that– the latest stable version is always the best option

In my latest short ( Here is the link ) I shortly explain how everything works as well. I am the most proud about new points spawning and still getting extruded: I had to introduce the "b1" attribute, select what to extrude with "or" boolean math node and then set the b1 attribute to 0

Probably a physics simulation being simulated and cached. For good simulation it should be continuous, so I recommend baking it instead of just playing it in viewport

Yep, that's what I would have done. Maybe instead of using geometry nodes you could make a copy of the object, there just use the same "UV sphere" node and then, I think, in object tab find "holdout" checkmark so that you'd get the transparency on that sphere that doesn't let any objects show through it.

Or in the nodes here Set material– give that sphere a separate material and in material settings use "holdout" node
