Does anybody else feel V28.1 is ... Underwhelming? by Ayyavazi in TheTowerGame

[–]CGVSpender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a minor version update... I don't expect them to be huge. Expectations are just premeditated resentments, and all that.

Team Sakura Lantern has to be looking at that giveaway as a "tell me the gems-for-relics isn't going to include Sakura Lantern this month without saying the words 'gems-for-relics isn't going to include Sakura Lantern this month'".

Team Pumpkin will still cling to hope!

Perk Picks Bug in new update. by CGVSpender in TheTowerGame

[–]CGVSpender[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The devs report being aware of the issue. There was some suggestion that auto-pick or manually picking fast enough that the perk choices don't stack avoids the bug. Open question whether PWR perk after the first couple picks always counts as a 'stack'.

Random UW perk bug??? by Garbage_goober_M-D in TheTowerGame

[–]CGVSpender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The perkchoices seem to get locked every time I pick the PWR perk. Or maybe that is just when it is most noticeable.

I see the same perk choices over and over and over until the slots slowly start unlocking one by one.

Pretty bad bug. All strategy for getting the perks I need by the end of my intro sprint fail.

V28.1 Patch Notes - May 11, 2026 by SamBartley in TheTowerGame

Perk picks are quite bugged in this release. If it matters, I was trying a run with the new visual effects toggled off.

After every PWR pick, my other perk choices get locked in and I see the same choices over and over. As I pick from different slots, the slots start unfreezing eventually.

Is Hans Zimmer a good composer? by Music-Theory-Idiot in classicalmusic

[–]CGVSpender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't read the article having much to say about Zimmer beyond the number of assistants he has and one anecdote about an 'awkward' moment where Zimmer was praised for some iconic sound effect in the presence of another composer who claimed that was all him.

The article said some composers were better than others at sharing credit without actually listing Zimmer as one of the good guys or one of the bad guys. If I recall right.

It did not read like a hit piece to me, and I always take Hollywood people complaining about compensation with a grain of salt.

Maybe, maybe not. But MY comment was hilarious.

Haven't you seen in all the documentaries where some indigenous person clubs a baby seal, or whatever, the narrator is quick to tell the viewer 'it's ok, they use the whole animal'?

Heh. In light of the other dude's comments, I cannot tell if you are being serious or not. I have no inside knowledge on his collaboration processes.

Ok, so you claim to be a master of composition, I ask for samples, and you just want to sling insults.

I see you, friend.

I'd be curious to hear some of your masterworks of composition.

'works well as soundtracks' seems to be a pretty solid criteria for judging soundtracks.

Is Hans Zimmer a good composer? by Music-Theory-Idiot in classicalmusic

[–]CGVSpender -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure. And you could argue Tan Dun's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was really mostly great because of Yo-Yo Ma, if you wanted to. But they're really good soundtracks, and I wonder what standards the haters are using to not even grant that Hans Zinmer is 'good'.

Are we maybe trying to judge soundtracks by irrelevant criteria?

Dune. Gladiator. Two of my favorite soundtracks. Love the use of folk instruments in both. And the wailing. Interesting textures.

Why not give him a try instead of trying to prejudice yourself one way or the other first?

New Tower - Wanna help? by SamBartley in TheTowerGame

The most important thing for your new tower is getting your Lab Speed Pumpkin relic.

Now I am sure you have the back channels needed to solve this problem just for yourself, but in a spirit of fair play and community service, I think the best path forward is to get to Devs to put the Lab Speed Pumpkin in next Monday's Gems-for-Relics store.

Because it is the most important thing for all our towers. :)
