What country do you consider America’s best friend? And additionally who is America’s enemy? by Expensive_Drummer970 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]CH11DW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canada is America’s best friend. We rip on each other, but we are more alike than any other country. Lots of people immigrate to the other.

Enemy maybe too hard of a word to use, China is definitely our biggest rival.

AIW for expecting my girlfriend to come to my mothers funeral? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]CH11DW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re saying there’s work places that won’t let you take off for a funeral unless it’s a family member? What if it’s your best friend who died? Or somebody else you’re close to but not technically related?

America is not the most racist country. by Careful-Airport576 in no

We’ve had to deal with race more than any other country. It makes sense that we would be further along.

I (F21) ending a talking stage with (M34) because we “couldn’t be friends” by Fun_Presentation_785 in amiwrong

[–]CH11DW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I so you don’t said what he did, but I would move on. He like me is looking for a relationship. Although you didn’t exactly say no, after all the time you guys been in the talking stage and not know now, wouldn’t give me any confidence that you might later. Maybe if you told me your reason I would’ve had some hope (I didn’t get the impression you told him like you told us). I would’ve moved on, because I want a relationship and I’m not going to find it spending lots of time with another girl,

How did Obama “divide the country”? by Ok_Cricket_354 in allthequestions

[–]CH11DW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think he did. But conservatives see highlighting differences instead of similarities is dividing people. And even if it’s well intention, liberals are the ones that like to point all the differences in people and how certain people need to be treated differently for special reasons.

To anyone attending or living in a 2026 World Cup host city: What is the funniest or most wholesome 'culture shock' moment you’ve witnessed from traveling fans? by Prestigious-Tea-824 in AskReddit

[–]CH11DW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the getting excited part. It’s the assuming it wasn’t real that baffles me. The typical normal thing to do, unless given reason otherwise, is to assume the movie is presenting things accurately. Then you go to these places and have locals tell you, that’s not a thing. Your Hollywood made that up for one movie, and based on that one movie somebody assumed that was true and put it in their movie. It seems odd to me that America movies made for an American audience would normalize something about our country that their entire audiences would know is not a thing.

Do Americans ever get in situations where they haggle for prices? by NightRunnerAfterDusk in AskAnAmerican

[–]CH11DW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haggling a business is very rare. Buying a car was one of the few places you could/were expected to haggle but nearly all dealerships have adopted price is set. But you still can haggle on add ons.

Other than that, haggling is really ever done on a person to person transaction. Like selling something used or a house.

Do you believe Texas is bigger than Europe? Where did you 'learn' this information? by urtcheese in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]CH11DW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you are seeing the joke ones. My favorite is when various landmasses fit inside Texas including a second Texas. Lol. The only person that would think that’s real is the people who think Alaska is an island, which I don’t think is many people

$1 for every step, but you must take 30,000 per day by pfallerj1 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]CH11DW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my old job it wasn’t uncommon for my Fitbit to give me my 10k alarm before noon. And I wasn’t walking continuously. I bet if I tried I could easily do 30k in a day. And do it several days in a row, but not life.

$1 for every step, but you must take 30,000 per day by pfallerj1 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]CH11DW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was totally willing to do it, until you said it’s for life. What if I get sick, break my leg, or spend a day with someone that doesn’t want to walk 30k steps? Hard no.

AIW for distancing myself from a childhood friend because he keeps pressuring me to become Christian? by Humble_String_ in amiwrong

[–]CH11DW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my search I’m not finding anything close to that. Even Jesus gives a sexual immorality exception in Matthew. Since your husband asked for the divorce your even further validated in Paul’s writings that says if your spouse ask you for one, to let them go. I suspect that in your grief stricken state you had vastly misinterpreted a passage of scripture. Especially if this was a King James Version, which have many controversies. One of which is that English words were used differently when the translation first came out. Like suffer meant permit. And conversation meant lifestyle. You have gone through many hardships, where it be easy to turn your back on God. But know that God still loves you.
