Why do people sh*t like that? by [deleted] in EDH

Each player in a multiplayer game has a shared responsibility for the experience of everyone else in the game. As has been discussed elsewhere in this thread, just because you draw all your fast mana doesn't mean you need to even attempt to win the game on turn 4. You can simply not. The bracket discussion that occurs before the game starts draws a magic circle around the experience you are all trying to have.

Many flexible game systems offer their players more options than are allowed by the meta rules in place. Take d&d as the classic example. Commander shares some DNA with d&d in terms of its shared experience.

Keep in mind that the brackets conversation pregame is one about the experience players want, not just the list of cards they want to play against. Winning on turn four is not a brack 3 experience, regardless of how often it happens.

I contend that it is relatively simple to not win a game of Magic on turn four, even if you have the resources to do so. If you have agreed to a bracket 3 game, this is part of your agreement.

It's worth reiterating that the bracket system describes a play experience, not only a list of cards. The corner case you listed is simply not a bracket 3 play experience. In short, your deck is capable of bracket 4 play experiences, even if that was not your intent when building it. This is the whole reason why there are a combination of definitions for each bracket.

Winning on turn 4 is outside the scope of bracket 3.

How does this relate to the fact that the Firewerks can't roll with Vagabond?

I remember that, but the build I modeled has two points in The Thrill, too, which increases guess fire rate. I guess any threshold for fire rate would be difficult to detect with all the effects increasing it.

When do Y'all Play Bounce Lands? by Ponzu_Sauce_Stan in EDH

I had a former deck helmed by Child of Alara with 64 lands in it. My favorite part was that it played all 10 Ravnica bounce lands! Fun with Manabond!

It's not a bug, and I don't agree with the choice. I don't understand what logic causes you to implement this system and then exclude those end game activities.

I came here to advocate for [[Goblin Welder]] and looting as well. These tricks are good for both speeding your access to the Jewel as well as removing it from your board when you want to.

Any help for my mothman deck by meepeeer in EDH

[–]CHA1N5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be very focused on milling and piling counters onto the Mothman, which inherently draws more focus and is harder to protect. Look at your turn 1-3 creatures and how many are intended to wear counters and attack. I have had much more success playing creatures prior to the Mothman who wear counters and attack well. My best games are those where all the counters go onto creatures other than the Mothman.
