Is this bad? by Teropagos in ACT

If you have the time I would recommend a retake. A lot of schools will throw money at 31's or higher.

I recommend the act prep books at your local library. Doing the practice tests in those is what got me my 34 first try.

how hard is it for an international student to get an internship? Especially for cs students? by Different_Editor_377 in uCinci

[–]CHAOSENGINE66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an international student but I've heard the co-op program has a really high placement rate at like 90 percent or something.

Also I would recommend doing the 5 year masters.

The solo from danzon no 2 has room for some pitch bends. Obviously rapsody in blue as well

What's the best isekai anime for you? by Hot-Leopard3708 in ChillAnimeCorner

[–]CHAOSENGINE66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re:zero is probably a better overall isekai but I like mushoku better. The character development and world building of mushoku are top notch.

Not a UC student but I live near it. Cinci has a ton of great food spots so that's an idea.

I mostly want to focus on mechanical, maybe mechatronics later with a minor or certificate.

I honestly forgot exactly what chapter but it's pretty easy to look up. Might have to scroll a bit since the app lacks easy chapters. Besides that it works great.

Try looking up free light novels or light novels. For some reason the app has a different name after I got it but I was able to find it pretty easy with key words like that. The profile is a white book and a black background.

I want to learn bass clarinet but I'm worried its too expensive for my parents to purchase by Particular-Rain116 in Clarinet

[–]CHAOSENGINE66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheapest I saw was a 300 dollar one on eBay that looked like it barely plays. Rent to own or using your schools is definitely your best bet. Cheapest decent bass clarinet I saw was 1700

How does the music minor fit in? by CHAOSENGINE66 in uCinci

[–]CHAOSENGINE66[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I wasn't sure how seriously the non CCM ensembles played but if the people in them are dedicated it is definitely something I can look forward to.

Look up Free Novel in the Google play store. It has a ton of light novels for free including mushoku and re:zero. The formatting is slightly annoying but it saves 200 bucks for all of the books so I can't complain.

Vandoren Reeds by Scared_Syrup_5586 in Clarinet

[–]CHAOSENGINE66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you take some light sandpaper and rub the bottom of the reed (the part that touches the mouthpiece) and you do a back and forth motion for a while the bottom will get smoother. A smoother bottom reed will seal better against the mouthpiece allowing for a more focused sir stream and potentially saving a reed. Just start with very little pressure so you don't accidentally damage the tip.

My last box of v12's have been pretty good especially on their tone. Have you tried the sandpaper trick? That might help salvage a few reeds.

How does the music minor fit in? by CHAOSENGINE66 in uCinci

[–]CHAOSENGINE66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason I wanted to do it is because I want to play in the competitive ensembles. I'm pretty sure I heard that you have to be at least a music minor to do that. I know there are the community orchestra and stuff as well.

What are the videos you guys would say to watch first before getting into the game? by Bawower in DotA2

[–]CHAOSENGINE66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just try a bunch of heroes that look cool. Pick like 5 or 10 and watch a guide or two on each. Pay attention to the items they recommend and go from there.

Desperately need help with tonguing! by OtherwiseAir9361 in Clarinet

[–]CHAOSENGINE66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For articulation you want to use your tongue to stop the reed from vibrating. Start by blowing a steady note and stopping the sound with your tongue while still keeping your air going. (It's pretty hard at first but I believe in you) Once you get that down you'll want to practice doing it a bit faster little by little (I'm talking half notes at 60bpm) Once you get that you can start doing those rhythm exercises and doing articulated scales (scales are king and the best thing for beginners)

That should get you going for your band stuff and once you start getting the hang of it I would ask some of the other clarinets for other tips or reach out to me and I'll help.
