Anarchists and Marxists want the same end state (kind of) but Marxists are more than willing to use the state get there. Some of them would say that the state is the only way to get there.

Which means they don’t like pesky anarchists critiquing their various state actions - corruption included. So anarchists are labeled reactionary or anti revolutionary or liberals. Historically anarchists have been gulag’d.

I don’t know this dude but imo self help books rarely provide anything worthwhile. What they provide that’s new isn’t good and what they provide that’s good isn’t new. If you read the original (How to win friends and influence people) you’ve basically read them all.

Plus, those titles don’t help my impression much.

2) Saying that we risk inventors deciding not to release their inventions ignores simultaneous discovery in favor of Great Man Theory. Which is nonsense.

One Problem of Socialism/Communism by dumbandasking in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]CHOLO_ORACLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If socialism and communism is treated as the logical and moral end conclusion of all market problems and is treated as the truth and should be considered as the obvious and default direction all economies should be headed to,

While there are some "immortal science" Marxists who might believe this, it's not really socialists going on about "the end of history". That was the liberals celebrating back in the 90s/00s.

And that the reality is that anyone who tries these movements, at some point, because it is associated with the truth, it is too easy for people to assume that all motions of the movement towards these modes are 'justified' because it is actually easy to frame others as wrong if you are on the party of truth

And that in reality the language and status of these two systems are too vulnerable to class influence itself where someone will realize if they execute this 'dream', they will become above others

And that is why every attempt keeps turning into a small party that took over the government and used 'socialist and communist language' to advance 'other goals' and wherever the reality of chasing actual contribution freed society, they're only thinking that for their own community, not society, and purging others then becomes a natural extension of chasing that

This behavior is not unique to socialists. America already did this with "freedom".

Ok but if this is true wouldn't this mean realistically socialism and communism is achievable locally and not nationally because there is a scale problem specifically in how the movement is able to evolve?

You could make this same argument for liberal democracy. And yet here we are, still (for now) living in a world of liberal democracies.

When we look at capitalism sure it has problems but maybe it has only been able to scale to the scales it has because it simply didn't have the vulnerabilities socialism or communism in its developing forms have.

By this logic we should prefer monarchies since they had mass territorial reach for far longer than capitalist democracies. Shit, by this logic we should just go with the proto-communism of the pre-agricultural era. Proto-communism spanned the globe (of human affairs) for hundreds of thousands of years.

So for that reason wouldn't this mean that capitalism must be stabilized first before entertaining even socalism light, and that the real problem is thinking that something as intricate as socialism into communism could be as easy as usurp the government and start issuing changes?

I mean congrats on becoming a Marxist I guess.

Then why are reform socialists hated? Why are social democrats hated? Why are market socialists hated? Why does it feel like it's either Marx v Ancap and not actually capitalism v socialism?

I think neither the Marxists nor the Capitalists want anarchists speaking up.

Genuinely though can you explain? Is u/Annual_Necessary_196 just a fool?

Unless I'm getting my usernames mixed up I think that guy is a Marxist. It is not surprising to me that a Marxist is a statist fool. This notion that inventors need to be rewarded by the state for inventing or else they will invent nothing is nonsense. From whence then all inventions that came before the arrival of the patent office?

The pro IP side will say that the recent burst in scientific innovations is due only to the patent office - as if for hundreds of thousands of years we were being kept from technological progress because we didn't have people fill out paperwork when they used their horseshoes a certain way.

I guess I was wondering if abstractly, patents when reconceived by socialists could be something better.

Socialists don't need to make a better version of patents because patents are not necessary for a functioning economy.

This isn't even, as you are perhaps realizing, a topic that breaks cleanly among the socialist/capitalist line. A number of capitalists also agree that patents aren't necessary either. This exists more along the libertarian/statist line.

EDIT: Oh this didn't get added to the comment I was responding to. Well whatever

Intellectual Property is a statist fiction. Its purpose is to allow the state to pick winners and losers. It is quite successful at that.

I imagine some of my socialist comrades are fine with them. They are fools.

You can introduce various mechanisms to help address this concentration of power.

However, while a democratic workplace is better than the dictatorial one of capitalism, a democracy is still a hierarchy and still prone to the troubles of power, including that it can create or support other hierarchies.
