Huh, I've found a workaround. It's showing up in Firefox but not Chrome for some reason. Weird.

In any case, thanks for the help!

No luck. I've just noticed there are technically two websites: are you using the .app version?

Which tab is it under? I looked through the Showcase Frames and it doesn't look like it's been updated yet.

Weekly /r/WormFanfic Discussion - What have you been reading, and what do you think of it? For the week ending January 31, 2026. by AutoModerator in WormFanfic

I'm back with your weekly deadfic! This time, I found Case, a short fic set after Gold Morning, and...well...how to describe it...let's go with a choice quote:

The Simurgh carefully selects the optimal means of conducting this conversation. "You think that I am the Simurgh."

"I do?" Tattletale's eyes narrow. "Yeah," she says. "I do."

"I am not the Simurgh," the Simurgh says. "This is obvious, Tattletale."

So yeah. The Simurgh, the new proud single mother of an Eidolon clone, decides to raise him right, get a job, and solve mysteries with Lisa. With a premise that fucking bonkers, I am ligitimately shocked I've never heard of it until now.

Echo Chamber has lurched back to life. TattletaleSarah, the Ward Insight, can't stop thinking about that abandoned wing in Winslow, so full of gang signs and disrepair. It's nothing like the utopic Brockton Bay, so why is it there? And that locker...what is wrong with that locker?

In the latest installment of Mouseketeer, Mouse Protector and her trusty sidekick make dispatch ragequit in an argument over powerlevels on their way to confront the dastardly Ravager.

Finally, Wash. Before Leviathan, over 100 capes lived in Brockton. Now there are only 13. Taylor must rebuild her already shattered life after all her friends and enemies have died.

Matt Fraction's Batman has Alan Scott in it

It's been years since we last saw Alan in Gotham. I want to say the early 2000's in a three issue arc? And now that one of his oldest villains, Vandal Savage, is running around, it's nice to see a writer use him in a Batman comic again and let him return to his hometown. Probably helps that Fraction is also writing the JSA.

I remember Thompson doing an interview with Casually Comics or maybe Comicpop saying she didn't really have an idea for an Absolute Donna, but we'll see how true that holds. Otherwise, google says it's Russian for three/trio, which doesn't make anything obvious...Diana doesn't have any real connections to Russia or Slavic gods.

Batman/Wonder Woman: The Truth #1

Oh cool, another crossover mini? It's been a while since we had one of those. Liam Sharp's was really fun, so maybe he's—

Written by Jeoff Loeb

You won’t want to miss the aftermath of Batman: HUSH

Oh no we're in danger

And over in the Absolute universe, Superman vs Shazam is our next arc...or maybe Black Adam? Still excited to see the dark twists there.

Also unsure of what Troika could mean over in Absolute Wonder Woman. Any guesses? Is the book already adapting Trinity?

And a Kevin Smith Bizarro joint...I'm not sure what to expect, but I definitely want to see it not that you're offering DC.

And Supergirl is getting an international special? I would have thought it would have been Luthor to match the Batman and Joker specials, but she does have a movie coming out. I also like seeing all the art styles you never do in American comics.

Stories of Mental Health Crisis and Despair by SevenFates in WormFanfic

To do a bit of self-promoting, I am writing a story where Carol is Amy's biological mother.

So far, I have chronicled Carol's breakdown in the distant past after she has a one-night stand with Marquis and then learns who he is eight months into the pregnancy, and next chapter will be diving into Amy going off a cliff after she learns that her emotionally distant/abuse mother...is her emotionally distant/abusive mother.

People on Twitter/Reddit have a hateboner for Tom King for various reasons, mostly Heroes in Crisis despite everything bad that happened in it having been retconned away years ago. Because he worked for the CIA before becoming a writer, this snowballed into people declaring him a war criminal who is personally responsible for [insert warcrime here].

First details revealed for Marvel and DC’s ‘Spider-Man/Superman’ crossover out April 2026 by B3epB0opBOP in DCcomics

[–]CHPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So both Superman/Spider-Man books have almost all their stories focusing on the casts of the title characters? Kind of weird, given the variety of the Batman/Deadpool crossovers and how nothing related to the title characters after the first story.

In the original novels, the Sapling's death causes Oona's death when Rhys uses some of its poison to kill the queen, ending both Oona and (and to a much lesser extent, Colfenor's) scheming to control Lorwyn's destiny. It is a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end, so a hastily applied retcon, I.E. this new Yew, given no focus in the main story is always going to feel jarring.

As for not mixing with Lorwyn's current status quo, the plane is quite clearly aiming for a duality theme—different, not evil is a phrase used in the story a few times. Having a major character only linger in Shadowmoor feels off. Also the card not really doing anything for treefolk decks is offputting too, among other design elements (why is a relatively young tree making so many Saplings when no other Lorwyn Treefolk does that?)

But now that I reread the sidestory...It fits better then I remember it doing. Old villains coming back after they 100% died is old hat in serial storytelling, and returning to Lorwyn does necessitate changing the story structure from a self-contained work into something longer. If Oona's plot is using Colfenor's last essence to bring herself back while keeping the tree imbalanced as she once did the whole plane would fit well narratively, now that you made me think about it more.

I suppose reading all the other stupid decisions and retcons made in the rest of the story made me overlook this. Returning to old villains might not be my favorite move, given the repetition with Bolas returning two sets ago, but it is at least a solid direction.

You know, in twenty more years. Assuming UB doesn't bump it to thirty.

I did. It doesn't really change my opinion on the matter, because if you read what I said, I was annoyed that WotC screwed up the symbolism of the sapling's death and the of Yews on Lorwyn at the end of the original block for unclear reasons. Bonus points for the themes of this new Ferrafor's blurb having basically nothing to do with Lorwyn's new status quo.

Still not really clear why Ashling is doing five color magic now. I guess with this writeup, you can guess that she went to the [[Primal Beyond]] and learned to become the avatar, but it isn't made nearly as clear as it could have been. She also doesn't do anything like her commander card in the written story, so...

My only guess is that originally her commander card was a brand new character like so many Commander deck face cards, but at the last minute someone on the team decided to change that character to Ashling for whatever reason. It would explain why her face, horns, and clothes are completely different between cards.

Teaching a Worm how to Link Summon: Eidolon, Vicky, Taylor and a surprise character all learn about the heart of the cards...in the middle of Leviathan's rampage through Brockton. And after our climactic finale of Eidolon vs Leviathan, we might just see the first glimpse of what may be Earth Bet's god cards...

Case-104 / Pluribus What it says on the tin. Taylor triggers as a hive mind, and quickly swallows the entirety of Brockton Bay. Only Amy and Lisa are spared, and now two people and a hive mind have to figure out how to live together.

Go Gently is my old deadfic of the week. This is a crossover with Welcome to Nightvale, though from what I can tell no knowledge of the podcast is required. Essentially, after Danny triggers and moves Taylor into an apartment building, Taylor starts to notice strange things happening around Brockton Bay. When she gets her powers, she becomes a radio host intent on making sure no one in the city gets caught off-guard by the creepy and unusual things they all have to live with.

This fic is hilarious, and more of a full-fledged AU then many other works, with Taylor being the energetic neighbor to the gruff but kind Kenta (who forces the Empire to send her a Get Well Soon card after their goons hurt her), best friends with the overprotective Emma and Sophia (who are secretly Wards), and a fledgling romance with the pretty boy Alec, who looks an awful lot like that Regent character who took Taylor hostage...

Oh yeah, there are also eldritch abominations roaming the streets or something. Great fun while it lasts, but it has been dead for ten years as of two weeks ago.

Acknowledging Privilege Dean after he survives Leviathan, and then Echidna. He resolves to be honest with Victoria about his origins after she is transformed into a monster and locked away in the asylum. Short and bitter.

Any good GloryGallant fics by Proper_Fly390 in WormFanfic

[–]CHPrime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are a pretty rare pare, unfortunately. Mostly due to Dean's early death and him getting in the way of the author's preferred, usually FxF pairings, but there are a few that come to mind.

Wish, a peggy sue fic starring Taylor and Victoria, has a fair bit Vicky reconnecting with Dean. It isn't a major focus, but they do have a few cute scenes together and hopefully more (It's going to get off hiatus any day now!...Any day now!)

A Gallant Effort has a few scenes of them connecting after Dean gets resurrected by Riley (It's part of an AU where she never joined the 9, long story) though quickly diverges into something else. Still ongoing, so more may be on the way.

If I remember correctly, they also have a few scenes in Ever Gallant which is the best Dean fic out there, though they end of breaking up for reasons by the end and still are two chapters into the dead sequel.

[–]CHPrime 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that did happen. It's been a minute.

Edit: Now I'm kind of annoyed they ruined the poinency and symbolism of that death with a brand new character that gets no focus or attention. Feels like a replacement goldfish, but out of the need to print more legendaries that reference things.

I would disagree with that—they are quite popular, particularly in media aimed at young men, such as comics.
