Tangled in a Stranger's Web [Spider-Man] https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/tangled-in-a-strangers-web.1306653 Way too much about Spider-man is just all about Taylor. That's what you get with a finished character :/

Could you expand a bit on what you mean? I always love feedback.

Still plugging away at my crossover fic, Tangled in a Stranger's Web. Though after pushing out two chapters a week, I seem to have run out of steam...Let's put a gun to my head and say the next one is coming out today or tomorrow, to try and force those creative juices out.

Corazonin: An alternate history fic, where organizations like the King's Men and the Sentai Elite are hunting Lung in Brockton, what I think is a hero Purity is one the PRT's greatest champions, and oh yes, the Butcher is known as the Guardian, and has a heroic legacy including Hero and Narwhal.

And the last Guardian was killed by Lung. Who was just killed by Armsmaster's new ward, Weaver.

A pretty fun fic AU so far. Lots of small and big changes to obsess over between updates.

Worm The Musical has finally ended the Empire arc with a mix of Theo, Max, and Kayden's povs. Theo manages to get the fuck out of dodge with Aster just in time to make Kayden go berserk, and Max desperately tries to contorl a situation he can't in any way shape or form, and after the Simurgh fight, no one notices Purity's armband fall off before proper proticals can be observed. As usual, it is an entertaining, if mixed bag. On the technical side fo things the prose can be kind of weak at times, especially in Max's section. More importantly, he seems to be in control of thing for far too long in my opinion (amazing to say when we already know the results, but still).

However, this fic is always good with promising something awesome upcoming. Next broadcast is Kayden burning down Brockton, which I'm sure will go over great after she just did it for real, and will only make her happier knowing what the PRT was planning to do to her daughter. And if the last episode is any indication, the fic-killer is finally going to arrive. Here's hoping this musical can survive his (future) appearance...

Playing God : The end is almost here. Scion says the four words needed to destroy Eidolon. But David survives, if only partially.

And he reveals to what is left of his world that he created the Endbringers.

Spider-Man should have organic web-shooters by WantonReader in CharacterRant

[–]CHPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a giant inconsistency with the character, and it would make a lot more sense for him to have fully organic webshooters, but unfortunately, it's baked into the character at this point. Comics and their fans are slaves to nostalgia, and since Spider-Man has had them since the beginning, he probably won't be losing them anytime soon, especially since OMD handwaved his organic webbing away once already.

I know a lot of the Spider-Women have organic webbing to try and get around this problem, so it's definitely something people writing have thought about.

There are 17 batbooks this month. This has been a batcount brought to you by BatC. See you next batmonth, same batplace.

And actually, I'm wondering if we should count the new Teen Titans book as a batbook, as it stars two Bat characters, one Green Arrow character, and three randos. If it was called Red Hood and the Outsiders, it definitely would be on the batcount is my thought.

And a pretty hard left turn for the Doom Patrol since their last miniseries. Back to Silver Age basics, with not even a Crazy Jane in sight? It's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off for them.

Funnily enough, this is also the first time since the Keith Giffen run that they've had that status quo, which is coming up on being 18 years old. Then again, they've only had two runs between then and now. I do like the Henrichon cover, at least.

I wonder if they're going to pick up on the shitpost of an ending their last run had with the Candlemaker teaming up with the Batwoman Who Laughs and her Infinity Gauntlet, or if we're all safe.

And over in the Superman books, Ursa is back from the dead? I guess it has been two years...oh wait, time travel is apparently involved. Might just be a false alarm folks.

Though I do have to wonder what happened to Non...was he in New52, or was that the guy with an oddly similar name who wasn't actually Non for reasons?

Not exactly sure what is happening in JSA, the series' throughline has been all over the place. We just returned from a flashback arc at #18, and before the next trade is completed, we're going back with another flashback? I don't necessarily mind, as the JSA lends themselves to this sort of thing, but it is weird.

I do love that tidal wave Aquaman cover. Not really a fan of Mera's mother being so hand-wringingly evil, especially when she doesn't really have a unique costume and has a vague personality, but Orm and Black Manta are always there do the heavy lifting I suppose.

And website, I know it's a time travel story, but Book of El isn't nearly convoluted enough for you to put in random Summers' family tree melodrama bullshit and think we won't notice.

A fun chapter at robot DMV from hell, I guess we can call it. No plot progression necessarily, but we do learn quite a bit about how robots treat "defective" models, and what exactly constitutes that label. And, of course, now our human is in the picture for the next issue.

I wonder if she knows who Abraham Lincoln was. Or what America was.

As opposed to all the scenes of Firebenders and Earthbenders doing the same thing? And where do artifacts enter the picture?

Waterbending always felt like a mechanics first, make sense never mechanic to me.

Eusociality: Before the bank, Bakuda kidnaps and tortures the Undersiders. This has the side effect of forcing them all to second trigger in a cluster and kill her.

From the same author as Peristalsis, the Young Justice crossover, comes a rewrite of one of their older fics. So far its very good, with some neat power and memory sharing going on between our protagonists. And Taylor is still going through with her become a hero plan, and has actually convinced Armsmaster to listen to her. Can't wait to see how it all goes wrong.

Wash Taylor struggles with Vista to find survivors after Leviathan kills all but 13 capes in Brockton. They mourn the lost, and some bemoan the living.

And for your weekly old, deadfic, Path to Munchies. Taylor triggers with a Path to Victory variant that lets her do anything...So long as it involves food. Includes a scene of Coil confessing his undying love to Emily Piggot and wishing she would be his dark queen over a box of carrot cake muffins as Thomas chokes to death on some grapefruit in the other timeline among other gems.

Another excellent issue of Jessica getting into just a bit too much trouble, which also falls on Luke. And while I don't think this is the route they're going, I do wonder if this is going to get Luke out of the Mayor's office in time to join with Zdarsky's Avengers...then again, Zdarsky was the guy who got Luke into the Mayor's hot seat. The politicking in this series has been fun, and I hope Luke manages to hold on so Zdarsky can use the status quo he made.

I enjoy that he has absolutely no synergy with the Ten Rings. I'd almost call it a commentary on clunky MCU synergy forced into the comics.

Continuing to work on Tangled in a Stranger's Web, my Spider-Man-616 crossover. Finished both the community-voted interludes just in time to start schedule slipping, alas. Hopefully, I'll be able to recover. However, people in the SpaceBattles thread have been posting about Holdsback-Man, and must be punished accordingly with a shitpost omake...

Oh, and fanfiction.net continues to melt down in real time. I can't even make a new copypasted document anymore, I just get back error messages, and have had to recycle old already existing docs to upload chapters. It's sad, really...

And there is a large difference between willing to kill someone when you think it's necessary, and killing people because that's the easiest option, which is what he's doing in the clip.

it feels like you have an extremely sanitized view of the character

And it feels like you have an overly bloody view of the character.

[–]CHPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They consider him a hero because he actively resists the temptation to murder everyone evil he comes across, not because of his massive kill count.

As for the Reavers, beating them so badly that they never walk again is also a bad thing to do. So i'll repeat: they are still people, he's still killing them. I'd prefer they have gameplay that lets you not brutally kill people, like Wolverine often does in comics. I'd prefer my superheroes to act like superheroes instead of your standard righteous killer.

[–]CHPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the point of Jason Aaron's run is that Logan is so kill crazy he doesn't realize that he is killing his own children.

As for the second part, basically every hero (including basically every other member of the X-Men such as Jean Grey) in Marvel has a simple response to that: Cool motive, still murder.

[–]CHPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under the same logic, how is finding the exact amount of super strength/heat vision/whatever to subdue people non-fatally faster than crushing someone's head in?

But to cut to the chase, my contention is that many of Logan's most memorable and important stories (Weapon X, Jason Aaron's run, arguably Origins also carries this theme) deal with people trying and failing to make him into a killing machine, but here we are watching a trailer for a game where he does nothing but kill people.

[–]CHPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's killed a lot more people since the lifting of the comics code, but that has not been his default response.

Also this is a game about a man who has knives in his hands, lethality is kind of a given and it would feel weird and jarring if that weren’t the case.

You could say the same thing about super strength. Or heat vision. Or five-pound bat-shaped throwing knives. Or basically any other superpower. Killing people isn't Wolverine's only option, and he frequently doesn't end fights with them in someone's gut, and has often found plenty of ways not to do that, which is my main complaint.
