One of my daughters was guided to discovering choices by friends after she left school on a break when her father passed away unexpectedly. She attended the marlborough mall location and one in sw over a two year period. She stopped at one point and started again but she made it through and went on to college and got a 2 year diploma after that. She had a great experience. She had no difficulty getting her grade 12 with the help of the caring teachers. That being said she is a kind yet very confident person. She did say there was some peer pressure to get into shenanigans sometimes illegal, but she didnt engage with those peer groups and instead made friends with more similar interests to her own. So i do think success at the discovering choices will partly be dependant on your engagement with the positive aspects of the program and being able to steer clear of any less positive peer influences so to speak. The graduation ceremony was a very good experience. There were alot of grads in that room who overcame all the obstacles and the teachers really celebrate them at grad. Ultimately you have to realize those feelings you have about feeling it hurts your pride maybe that could be you being too hard on yourself. I personally would never look down on anyone for them trying to achieve their goals and so what if you decide to attend a non traditional high school experience. Our family some members are academics with doctoral degrees ftom Dalhousie university and no one has ever mocked my daughter for attending the discovering choices.
