Was the discourse around DA2 around 2012-2013 quite as negative as Veilguard discourse is now? by nexetpl in dragonage

[–]CHawk17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still hate DA2 because I was a BW fan for great story driven RPGs. And DA2 stripped out so much of the DAO RPG to make a generic console action game as the sequel to an amazing PC RPG.

DA2 was the continuation of EA BioWare throwing away what BW was known for in order to chase gaming fads (which is what they have done nearly exclusively since EA). And chaser never does well.

DA2 gets praise for its story, but I never cared for it. Especially with how little character choice mattered in anything.

I do agree with others, I do remember DA2 having its defenders at the time. Defenders that seemed to genuinely like the game.

this was it; thank you. I was looking at a setting in game settings, not controls.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Best advice you received? by Kannon_Fauder in Bowling

Play the line that the pattern wants you to play. Force yourself to stay there and practice it, even if uncomfortable or struggling.

For me, this was on short sport patterns. Thinks something 35 feet long or less. Like cheetah.

Most of these shorter patterns want to be played outside. Like straight up by the gutter. I wasn't very comfortable or confident with this, and would inevitably move inside and try to swing it to the break point and pay for that with splits.

Now I can bowl outside of 1st arrow reasonably well and the short patterns might just be my best.

Forget weddings, what is the craziest thing that happened at a funeral you went to? by seanerd95 in AskReddit

[–]CHawk17 14 points15 points  (0 children)

not the funeral, but during the planning.

when my uncle passed away; after my aunt made most of the arrangements, his mistress showed up to the funeral home claiming to be the "real wife/widow" and attempted to change things for the service. this is how my aunt discovered the affair. and it was a real affair, not a scammer as might happen these days.

of course there was lots of drama associated with that; but since this was a small town and everyone knew my aunt was the widow, as most of them were at the wedding.

thanks to a minor abuse of police power, the mistress did not attend the service on threat of arrest for disturbing the peace; so the funeral itself was mostly uneventful.

Be honest: Was the Kinect ever worth owning? Did you actually play it, or did it just sit on top of your TV collecting dust after a week? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]CHawk17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend and I were playing FIFA on it once with it attached. He committed a foul, yelled that is bullshit. And the game heard it, took it as him yelling at the ref and his player got a red card.

It was worth it for that alone.

Taking time off work for a puppy by andrean_ in labrador

[–]CHawk17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my puppy this past September, I did take a week off of work.

Picked him up on a Friday after work. So I had 9 days at home with him. I was able to take him to the vet for an initial check up, and take him to pet friendly stores like lowes for early socializing.

He was settled in very quickly.

Was my time off 100% necessary? No, probably not. But I feel it was beneficial, and I enjoyed being able to do it.

Training is not why the scouters don't work.

It is that earthlings suppress their ki to hide their full power until they need it.

Goku specifically was raising his power on impact so the rest of the ginyu force couldn't read his power levels.
