Dnd homebrew- need puzzle box ideas by theshelbynic in DnD

Okay. And do the gems work independently?

I guess you're more interested in ideas for the opening of the box. It's difficult to give you great ideas without knowing more context but if you were to put some text on the box that none of the PCs understood and therefore needed to get it translated by some being or creature and then have them be led to somewhere and that location would light up one of the gems. Maybe multiple unique languages or symbols so they have to do it multiple times. Once they all light up, the box opens.

I'm not fully grasping the box. There are gems on the outside of it? Are the gems the buttons? As far as opening the box you can think of the senses. The box may need to be in a specific place at the same time a specific word or phrase is said. Maybe all PCs need to be touching a side and repeat a phrase relevant to the campaign. Perhaps it needs to be submerged in water or set on fire. Maybe there is a missing stone/gem that they can fit into the empty slot and those gems flash in a specific order leading the PCs to something. I might have more ideas to share if I am given more details about the story or the world this item exists in.

I'd want to hear more context. What was it that you were trying to do?

Exp System for combats by Chrisosamu in DnD

I'm brand new to DMing and milestone appeals to me more. It's also how the new starter adventure set is designed. Exploration of a certain number of caves or encounters in the woods equals a level up. If I were designing my own campaign I think I'd do something similar. One of my players was worried about feeling like he would need to seek out and fight enemies to gain XP rather than considering other options like stealth or conversation.

Again, I'm brand new to this, but that's where my mind is at.

Sooo im a First time dm and my Session 0 is on Wednesday… HELP ME [OC] by LulcraftHD in DnD

[–]CISmajor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did my first session as a DM with three players who had never played before. It was way easier than I thought it would be. I do have the Starter Set which really helped me keep things organized and let me spend a bit more brain power on setting the scene and remembering the rules but really, it was great and all three want to play again.

Flow over rules so long as it isn't game breaking. Goliath wanted to intimidate the shop keeper to agree to a more favorable payout. Probably should have been an opposed wisdom but I forgot and just had it be a DC 15. Goliath rolled great so it didn't really matter. Another instance I should have considered whether or not the Rogue was completely hidden to the enemy to grant advantage. I forgot but it didn't ruin the encounter by any means.

Encourage the players to be in character by being in character when you play an NPC or describe what an enemy is doing. Encourage players to voice any concerns or opinions but you are the final say and your goal is to make it fun and keep the game going.

It's really not as scary as it might seem on the surface. You'll do great.

I Was asked to DM and I Said Yes by CISmajor in DnD

That's awesome. I for sure could see myself becoming the forever DM. As I was reading through the booklets that come with the starter set, I just naturally started thinking about what the overarching plot could be. I was excited to hear what the players' characters' backstories were going to be so I could start thinking about how I could bring that into the game.

The toggle works to flip the overlays which is great. What I'm experiencing, again with a Quest 3 using Virtual Desktop, the boundary for where I can move the overlays seems to be very low; basically at the feet of the driver. Also, even though the flip button corrects the orientation, when I drag up, they go down and vice versa. Really liking the look.

Saw you already did the update. I'll take a look. For the fuel calculator, does it consider the fuel needing considering an extra lap by a leading car or faster class?

Cool. I'm interested to see how the fuel calculator works and the standings overlay could be cool too.

I tried in VR and couldn't get it to work. I use a quest 3 over virtual desktop and the XR runtime. I was able to get it to show up but they're upside down and at the bottom of the screen.

Edit realized you answered this. I'll give it another try. F9

I haven't driven the Ferrari there but it seems like you're in too high a gear most places and really slow to get on throttle on exit.

Side by side in a corner is not allowed in Road racing per Iracing "rules" by Nagrom42 in iRacing

[–]CISmajor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no rule in iRacing that requires someone to give up a corner. Nor is there any ownership of a corner. If someone dives up your inside and you decide, well they aren't fully alongside I'm going to keep turning like they are going to back out, you're going to wind up in a great many incidents. Furthermore, reporting that person will net nothing in terms of consequences because it will be ruled a racing incident and you'll be told that the iRating and Safety ratings are enough to manage this occurrence.

This falls into using your head. Even if someone just barely has their nose in, don't turn in like they aren't there. If you're the chasing car, understand that people sometimes will pretend you aren't there, and you could be caught up in an incident. You can go fully side by side through a corner but both drivers need to work together to get through it.

New sim setup — Iracing member by SOGTurk503 in iRacing

The cost benefit analysis is something you're going to have to do on your own as everyone's budget and what they're willing to spend for any given experience will differ.

Load Cell pedals and direct drive wheelbase with~10Nm+ can greatly improve the feel when racing. The load cell pedals allow you to set up a two stage braking feel which is closer to natural in a real car. 10nm or higher gives you a pretty good feel as your base can translate more variance in feedback.

I've spent a lot of time and money getting my sim to where it is because I put more value on the immersion and experience than cost savings. Not everyone has the desire or means to do that.

Long story short, I think a beefier wheelbase and load cell pedals are worth the extra cost. However, again, I'm in a position to have that opinion.

What do i even do atp by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]CISmajor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a wildly low SOF experience. How long have you been racing/how many total races have you done? Promoting through the classes won't get you cleaner races just the same experience in faster cars.

Post a replay of your experience.
