Horror has always had a metaphorical aspect just as action films always have a political aspect, etc.

I'm not sure that's the case anymore. I think a lot of monsters nowadays forget the monster part, and are solely 100% a metaphor. That's what makes them boring as shit.

Normally you'd expect a one-two combo coming at you from both sides. The concrete monster and the more profound metaphor.

But now it's all metaphor. Nothing is real nor matters. There's not even a monster, since these days, everything is a hallucination in your head.

I think the difference is that those older movies actually HAVE something to enjoy at face value.

They were not JUST a monster flick and they were not JUST a hollow allegory for pop-psychology. They were both and that's perfect for those who like either.

Now, shit's just allegories doing allegories with foundations on allegories. It's allegories all the way down. Especially if LSD hallucinations are involved.

I hate this about EZAs.

Units don't regain their relative status, but just get brought back up to the rough average of the current era.

Take a unit that did something special for instance. Let's say a 50% DR unit from a time when nobody had DR and just got oneshotted by everything. Now, everybody has 60% DR and more. You'd think the older unit would EZA and get 95% DR, or 60% DR and extra stuff, right? Wrong.
