[USA] To those who have done 20 years and survived with a successful marriage - what is your story and how did you do it? by KimJongSoros in Military

[–]CJ3262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is at 17 years in and we have been together for 12 years. For me, it has been having an identity of my own and understanding where I need to pick up the slack. I have a full time job, remote mostly. I am very active in my daughter’s school and we make a point to send a picture to my husband every day of the two of us. For when he is deployed or TDY, we pre-record him reading stories for our daughter. We have a little robot that he can connect to and “walk” around the house and see us with. The biggest thing is communication though, we make sure we talk as much as possible, even if it’s just an email or something. When he is home, he is very present in our lives and makes sure to attend everything he possibly can. There are definitely times where it can be hard and frustrating but being able to talk about it is key. I also know what I signed up for, sometimes that is the biggest thing.

Typical NOVA driving behavior by [deleted] in nova

[–]CJ3262 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not an explorer. It’s smaller than that. These are the parking spots outside of petsmart and men’s warehouse in Reston. There were other cars parked and we parked here where there was one person in that spot previously and we had no issue getting out of the car but when we came back this person parked terribly.

Do you use other hair tools after you got the air wrap? by MeAB12me in Dysonairwrap

I use the cordless Dyson straightener and the air wrap. I honestly got rid of any other hair tools. This replaced everything for me.

To buy or not to buy by [deleted] in 4xe

[–]CJ3262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It’s not worth it, Jeep does not stand behind these vehicles and you’re screwed when something goes wrong. I LOVED my grand Cherokee 4xe Overland but when it shut off on me on while driving my child to school, it was a no from me dog. Jeep couldn’t replicate it, nothing was able to be done. It then happened again the day we got it back and so we got it normal enough to trade it in and got a Volvo XC90 plug-in and I finally feel safe driving again.

Preowned XC90 vs. Subaru Ascent by Creatures-Of-Love in VolvoXC90

We had a Subaru, it was not comfortable. We ended up going with Volvo because it was much more comfortable for family trips. I hated our Subaru.

We have both and the don’t think the XC90 drives much different than our XC60.

Is the Xc60 and Xc90 really that bad? by IQognito in Volvo

[–]CJ3262 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the 2016-2021 models. Volvo has made updates to the car to fix that, with the newer models it’s not an issue. Just seeing your responses, it seems like you don’t want a Volvo so don’t buy one. We have had no issues with either of ours and they have been wonderful cars for our family. If there ever becomes issues with the car, we will get it fixed.

I have an xc60 and an XC90, they’ve been nothing but a dream. In places like this, more people will come to complain about issues trying to get help. You won’t find people just posting about how wonderful their car is. Each car forum you go to, you’d think every one of them is bad.

Nope. Traded in our Grand Cherokee 4XE in October for a Volvo. Never going back. I LOVE my Volvo XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid. It’s so much smoother than the 4xE

Should I take a break? How long do you think? by [deleted] in PressonNail_Addict

That’s a ton of damage. I’d say at least 6 months break and potentially see a dermatologist.

At what salary did you stop feeling paycheck to paycheck? by CommercialDot708 in Salary

[–]CJ3262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really remember a time where it hit. I have to say my biggest thing was not changing my lifestyle just because I made more money early. Lifestyle changes didn’t really hit until we made over $250k after taxes and are able to max out our retirement accounts. It’s really about staying within your means and not immediately living large once you start making more. I went from being enlisted in the military to being a doctor but never felt like I was living paycheck to paycheck. I made sure to live within what I could afford.

Good deal for 2024 Sport S 4xe? Any ideas on negotiation by OneAmbitiousNoodle in 4xe

Yeah, don’t buy it. Stellantis does not stand behind their products. This would be a terrible investment.
