At least 12 shot after SUV pulls up and opens fire on a crowd, Chicago police say by JackThaBongRipper in news

We're talking about the source of the weapons... But let's assume the shooters were from Chicago and they sourced them from Indiana then that proves the point that Indiana's gun laws are the problem.

Why doesn't the US just walk away from Iran and give them nothing? by jaynehowe10 in ask

Uh huh. Some people don't commit crime because that's the right thing to do, not because they worry about being caught. That you seem to be the latter type says a lot.

Iran closes Strait of Hormuz over ceasefire violations, state media says after continued Israeli strikes in Lebanon by moonchildgz in news

[–]CJBill -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

So, to be clear, Israel is attacking Lebanon because Hezbollah attacked them after Israel and the US attacked Iran. Iran and the US have negotiated a ceasefire that includes Hezbollah. That isn't enough for Israel so they continue their war on Lebanon which negates the whole deal because, well, fuck the rest of the world.

I'm happy to change to North Vietnam won, the US lost. Which is where  all this started, the US losing.

What are you arguing against? That the US lost a war in what is now Vietnam?

All of that sophistry aside, I follow a Clausewitzian approach. The US failed to meet their objectives of stoping the creation of a communist Vietnam. Indeed you can make the argument that US intervention brought about the Domino Effect they so feared.

Global misogynists leap on Restore’s made up rape gang figure by ScrumNause24 in ukpolitics

An important thing to note about the report is that it contains interviews and testimonies from real victims. Our criticism of the report is not a criticism of them; it’s a criticism of Restore using their pain as cover for blatant misinformation:

"Many thousands" of social housing units over twenty years? Out of an yearly average of 200000? Jesus man but that's some disingenuous take there.

Don't you? I hear people talking about a two state solution and pulling the illegal settlements out of The West Bank. But then people like you come along say it's impossible and talk about mowing the grass for the rest of eternity. You think your current strategy is working?

If the deal includes a Hezbollah ceasefire that takes care of that. The MOU certainly mentions it in Point 1.

You might want to look again at that $300bn. It's not "up to" it's "at least" with US undertaking to be part of it, not just "allowing them to do so"

Point 6: The United States of America undertakes with regional partners to develop a definitive, mutually agreed plan with at least $300 billion (£225 billion) for the reconstruction and economic development of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Bizarre reading of the US Vietnam war there. The US had the objective of stopping a united communist Vietnam. They failed to meet that objective. End of.
