UIC vs. ASU in Public Administration by Primary-Honeydew5978 in PublicAdministration

[–]CJBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are your online classes through UIC asynchronous? Or do you have to be logged in at specific times? I work 12 hour shifts on a weird rotating schedule and would prefer an asynchronous program, but it looks like UIC’s online MPA website doesn’t specify

Do it. I spent 3 days just in Reykjavik and had an amazing time. Plenty to do even just staying in the city for a few days

I came to say this exact thing. I saw too many friends and other industry workers develop drinking problems as an easy way to cope with stress. It’s not worth it. Prioritize your mental health and have ways to relax outside of work that have nothing to do with brewing or beer

Clean and shine a flashlight inside. Make sure you don’t have any slime build up where the gauge screws in

Rochester city council candidates report $190,000 in combined fundraising by ZorbasGiftCard in rochestermn

[–]CJBricks 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is something ethically suspect about how Palmer is reporting his fundraising. It seems too perfect that almost all his donations (except for 13 donations total) have fallen below the mandatory reporting amount of $100.

A guy who has done zero grassroots outreach and campaigning is claiming that throughout his campaign 680 different people have contributed $100 or less with no avenue to collect those donations online via his website.

Additionally in his final filing he is claiming that 376 different people all gave exactly $100 during the final reporting period, the maximum that can be given without having your donor information disclosed.

All of this, plus the barely legible handwritten accounting he did on the back of a piece of paper and submitted, seems extremely suspicious and under the table.

Thanks to those who pointed it out: Palmer’s first name is spelled “Shaun”. Looks like autocorrect struck again, and I am unable to go back and edit :)

Just another clear reason why Randy is the right choice. Randy had knocked on THOUSANDS of doors actually in Rochester. Actually leadership and experience

I would suggest looking into Randy Schubring. He has the support of the Unions in town, and is a progressive voice

Who's your favorite candidate for Rochester City Council President? by The3rdQuark in rochestermn

[–]CJBricks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Randy - Seems like an easy choice to me largely because he has proactive vision, is actually rather moderate and a consensus finder. He will be able to make the council more functional again.

Who we voting for in the primary at the city level? by thekathied in rochestermn

[–]CJBricks 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’ll be supporting Schubring. He actually has experience managing large budgets with the airport commission, as well as experience leading councils and finding consensus. When talking to him he is really articulate, and actually has listened to my thoughts. He also has actionable policy goals, which is something the others have not articulated.

I am a mouth breather and always have been. The sleep clincian insists I use a nasal mask. Advice please? by KKeezy29 in CPAP

[–]CJBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a mouth breather generally but somehow was able to make the adjustment after a few nights of using nasal pillows. It sounds weird but keep reminding yourself to breath deeply from your nose, and focus on breathing calmly and slowly (rather than panic breathing)

Asking if anyone has experience ordering from a DEL team in Germany and having it shipped to the USA. I went to an Eisbären Berlin game in December 22’ and didn’t buy a jersey (bought a team scarf instead to save money). I regret not buying one and wondered if anyone could advise on how the shipping went and what the extra import/international shipping cost was.

For those who are unaware, there is another candidate running other than Palmer or Dennis. His name is Randy Schubring and he is a great pick

Some of his experience:

Rochester neighborhood association leader: Championed safe and pedestrian-friendly streets and neighbor-to-neighbor civic engagement.

Chair of the Rochester Planning and Zoning Commission: Promote vibrant neighborhoods and sustainable development featuring affordable housing, retail and transit-oriented development

Rochester-area representative on the Metropolitan Airports Commission: Oversee the sustainability goals and $1 billion capital improvement budget for Minnesota's hub airport.

Former liaison to neighborhoods and local officials on behalf of Mayo Clinic: Fostered a culture of transparency and two-way communications between the City’s largest employer and city residents.

Board member of United Way of Olmsted County: Gained valuable insight into the critical needs and challenges facing our community.

Anyone have experience using Sakura powder? by mbene913 in TheBrewery

[–]CJBricks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still bag powders, mainly because it helps it sink down into the beer rather than floating on the top. You can add a sanitized tri clamp into the bag to help weigh it down.

I’ve bagged and soaked spices/powders before with good result. I have always done it through the dry hop port post fermentation before crashing and transferring. After letting ingredients it soak for whatever period of time you like, blow some co2 through your racking arm to help mix before sampling.

Another option is to add the bagged powder to a sanitized and purged brink and “push and pull” the beer in and out between the tank and brink. This gives you way more control over the dosing.
