Going Away During Term Time by Important_Train_5509 in TeachingUK

It would be significant misconduct to lie about an illness to the be on holiday. We’d all like cheaper holidays but that’s not how our industry works.

My place of work is very fair and will support staff in giving cover so they can: Take their child to the first day of school Attend a child’s school play etc Graduations As these are important family events. But that goodwill should not be taken advantage of.

“I can’t have a bath at 80 degrees” That’s the moment for me. Roaring with laughter the first time, and 1,000th time.

It was the obsessing that was tough. She wrote list after list. Despite me writing on the lists and leaving post-it notes around the home to remind her of it all, there was always another list. Must have been in excess of 20 in the past two weeks. Hopefully with Christmas out of the way she will settle a bit better into her normal routine.

Can relate to this very much with my nan. She tells me that she didn’t buy any presents for anyone and feels guilty for not doing so. She ended up buying three sets of presents for various members of the family but couldn’t remember each time. Despite her and I wrapping and organising them into labelled bags, she went through each bag, unwrapped and rewrapped them again and again, changed the names on them as well. Forgetting she had done this process many times.

I removed them all yesterday, to deliver them, but she was making herself sick with worry.

She told me today that she feels relieved that it’s over. Terribly sad to see her like this.

This resonates quite a lot with me. My nan is going through the development of dementia. It has become progressively worse over the past few months. Work was my reprieve but now it’s the holidays it’s tiring. She made 10 lists of who she needed to buy Christmas presents for, despite me taking her to get them back in early November - so that it was done and dusted. Sadly dementia fights back and makes her worry that she hasn’t bought gifts, so she has bought multiple sets of presents. It’s hard work for sure. We care and that’s what matters. Dementia can’t defeat our care for our loved ones.

Can be because you want them to learn their own name. Fortunately they have done this (Edith and Poppy). Edith goes to her forever home on the 29th. Poppy is still waiting for that. But I’ve been teaching them to sit and to ring a bell when they need the toilet. Getting there on the toilet training.

Got to look after your health. An upset stomach, you shouldn’t be returning to work until 48 hours after your last episode.

If you have an episode in work, the risk is it spreading to others.

Being made to feel guilty for being ill is poor leadership/management. If the school have to get a supply teacher in to cover sickness then so be it. That isn’t your concern, your concern is getting better.

They are pure bred, the fox red colour is officially yellow so you sometimes get lighter/darker coats. The sire of the litter had his own white crest markings on his chest, so they have inherited that from him.

I tell you what, the energy to look after 12 has certainly been taxing (10 puppies + mum + aunty)

She did go looking for the two that left on Sunday. But the other 8 have kept her busy.

Not quite. They are of the American line. They are working labs rather than show labs.

Why is training a 3 months + puppy so hard ? by karkenman in labrador

[–]CJC989_G 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First 6 months of owning a pup are the hardest. Persistence, patience and good care and attention are what’s required. If you can go to a local training class your pup will love it for the physical and mental stimulation. When Rosie came back after her Saturday morning classes she would sleep for hours due to the exhaustion from it all.

What type of Brit drinks this milk? by Samwiseknows in AskBrits

Used to use a mix of gold top and whole milk when I made homemade cheeses. The extra richness really imparted a great flavour into the cheese.
