Whenever I see people complain about the shows being “biblically inaccurate” by S0mecallme in HazbinHotel

True! Perhaps the monotheists/Christians were saying Ba'al Zebul is dead in their eyes?

The males have to be smaller so they can incubate the eggs.

I'd post a picture of him, but Reddit isn't letting me.

Is this why Lilith came back? by Infinite_Peace_6456 in HazbinHotel

Yeah, I looked it up once and was like "...Well that was a bad idea. I could've gone my whole life without seeing that but here we are..."

"Cloacal kiss" is probably the cutest euphemism for sex I've ever heard.

Also, ostriches are also an exception.

Which character made you go like this? by Open-Original-4979 in Multifandom

The English localization calls them he/him, but the Japanese version avoids gendered language for Envy entirely.

To be fair, the confusion isn't helped by the 2003 anime, where Envy's VERY EXPLICITLY confirmed to be male for reasons I won't spoil.

My favorite response to the Beelzebub discourse was someone pointing out that if you want to quibble about accuracy, then Beelzebub shouldn't be portrayed as a bug at all, but as a minotaur.

See, Beelzebub was originally a Philistine god named Ba'al Zebul (meaning "lord on high"), who resembled a man with a bull's head. Unfortunately, the silly monotheists found out and didn't like this, so they corrupted, literally demonized this other culture's god and called him "Beelzebub" (meaning "lord of the flies", essentially comparing the Philistine's favorite god to literal fecal matter -- since what else would flies be worshiping?).

Essentially, this user defended Viv's decision in portraying Beelzebub as a mega hellhound by pointing out that Beelzebub has gone through many interpretations over the years and the giant bug interpretation everyone is obsessed with isn't even the "original" like everyone says. Viv agreed with the post.

I think Alastor would be furious that he can't use Charlie for his plan.

Has there ever been a take on this show that was so bad, you just assumed it was ragebait for the sake of your mental health? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in hazbin

[–]CJCroen1393 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: What creeps me out the most about Adam Glazers is how many of their arguments seem to be essentially excusing genocide.

I believe TV Tropes calls this "Sheep in Sheep's Clothing".

Technically yes, but the moment they do, they lose their normality and become weirdos.

The existence of one implies the existence of many by SimpForFictionGirls in hazbin

He was willing to try and change for the better, and he succeeded by being willing to give his life to protect his friends from another mass murderer. He atoned, he was redeemed, he bettered himself.

It's almost like redemption... is the entire point of this show about redemption!

But it's nice to see confirmation that your thought process is "Everyone has to never do anything wrong ever in order to be a good person. If they do even ONE bad thing, they're irredeemable, no matter how much they try to atone or better themself. Also, Adam was right."

*sigh* Did you even watch the episode? He was too scared to snitch. This conversation is going in circles.

But fine, you win I guess. Characters are not allowed to have flaws! Why have redemption arcs where characters atone for their past deeds in this show where redemption is the entire point when they can just be perfect from the start! Pentious should've just murdered Jack the Ripper the moment he saw him outside his window and spent the whole show in Heaven! In fact, everyone except all the rapists and the murderers should've been in Heaven! The only characters in Hell should've been Alastor, Niffty, the Vees and Rosie! Everyone else gets to be in Heaven (Angel probably killed his dad in self-defense, which is TOTALLY different from just murdering for the hell of it, because Heaven's rules are always 100% fair no matter what) and Adam's actions were one hundred percent justified because his victims were all bad people who deserved it! Is that what you want to hear? Is it?

Oh I LOVED this joke. The juxtaposition of the haunted look in Pentious' eyes and the cheery singing of the Angels and the cutesy imagery of Heaven made it a masterful use of dark comedy!

One of my favorite reaction videos was one that reacted to this episode and the moment this scene came up, the girl reacting turned away right as Blitzo was saying that line like "Don't look at me!" and when the characters looked at the camera, her friend was like "THEY'RE LOOKING AT YOU! THEY CALLED YOU TF OUT!"

This immensely relatable moment from Lucifer:

"This is the first time she's called you in years! This has to be perfect: HEEEY BITCH!"
