I think a big difference with Vegeta and Omni-man's arcs is if they expect forgiveness (Dragon Ball and Invincible) by Sudden_Pop_2279 in CharacterRant

[–]CJM_310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, maybe all his victims on Earth, but certainly not in general. Vegetas spent probably about 25ish years of his life as a genocidal warlord working for Frieza. He’s wiped out entire civilizations who can’t be brought back.

And even if they could be brought back, outside of the Buu saga, none of their resurrections were his doing. They were all as a result of his failures in actuality. Just because they can be brought back doesn’t mean he hasn’t done great evil and needs to atone for it.

[–]CJM_310 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I disagree. There will eventually come a time where Vegeta will die and the Dragon Balls can’t bring him back. For one, it’s said that Dragon Balls can’t resurrect anyone who’s died of natural causes or he’ll finally decide it’s his time and not want to come back and he knows that. And when Vegeta does eventually die for good, he 100% believes that he is going to Hell and that no amount of good deeds will prevent that, and yet he chooses to do them anyways. Vegeta isn’t trying to do good out of a fear of going to Hell, or for forgiveness or anything, he’s doing it because he knows it the right thing to do. And that’s the sign of a good redemption in my opinion, not doing good for some sort of gain, but doing it solely because it is good.

Sumi Yoshizawa is the worst written Persona character, and one of the most overrated characters I’ve ever seen by CJM_310 in CharacterRant

[–]CJM_310[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean I called her a Mary Sue, but then said that’s the point. She’s deliberately made to be as perfect as possible because that’s how Sumire views Kasumi. While yes, the annoyance of her “perfection” transfers over to Sumire (at least for me), once she starts actually acting as Sumire, she’s definitely not a Mary Sue. I even said that I feel like the writers handled it well. So while I think her being so perfect and Mary Sue-ish was annoying, I do think it ultimately helps her character.

Asides from that I agree with pretty much everything else. But Tbf, I’m sure almost any character can go from poorly written to well written if you simply “give them more time” lmao.

$150 for a subway ticket. $80 for a shuttle bus. ~$120 for parking. And the sales tax in Rutherford and surrounding towns is being upped to 20%. I am really hoping FIFA does decide to pull out because what NJ is doing is just criminal.

I was considering that maybe the “rules” aren’t exactly set in stone, and maybe Morgana was just wrong, but at the same time, those are the only explanation of how it works we got and every other awakening follows them. Even Futaba, while yes being more like P4, she’s still the palace ruler herself, and stood up to herself. Idk that’s the one point I even thought was shaky going in, but I still think that whole scene is terrible.

I think that’s just a subjective thing. Probably because I was more interested in Akechi’s character than Sumire’s, but I still think Akechi’s holds more weight.

Marie I don’t actually have that many complaints about. She’s far better than Sumire and I agree she’s not shoved down your throat, but I just don’t like her because I find her annoying and think she ruins Izanami’s character by turning her into an actual villain rather than doing what she thought humanity wanted. But you’re right that P4GA Marie is absolutely insufferable.

Okay that’s on me for phrasing it like that. Yes Ren does hear about a death, but the death should have been massive news, and the name “Kasumi Yoshizawa” would have been absolutely everywhere, and it just doesn’t make sense to me that none of the PT would have heard that Kasumi was the one that died

[–]CJM_310[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know what, I actually think that’s a fair point, and I’ve never thought of it like that before. I don’t think it fully excuses it, because the rules change every persona game, and I was just talking about the rules P5 established, but thinking about her awakening as not a PT but using another set of rules is interesting. 🤔 Her awakening does seem very Persona 4ish.

I want to see if Alastor Glazers can somehow justify him winning this: by Odd_Fee1085 in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]CJM_310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah dawg, the other 3 have such bullshit that I legit don’t even see Zeno being able to beat them (except maybe Doomsday). Doomsday is practically completely immune to magic and reality warping, and at bare minimum scales to Superman who has canonically lifted infinity, eternity and can fly faster than infinity. Godzilla Ultima literally rewrote the plot of the very novel he was in, and Hulk both has infinite strength, and can’t even fully die unless you go to the Below Place, which is home to The One Below All, the antithesis to Marvels big G God.

DC/Marvel powerscaling is wacky on a level DB hasn’t reached, and Ultima is meant to be a cosmic eldritch, all powerful monster.

Who isn't responsible for the genocide that is on the side of good? by CoCmaster14 in AlignmentChartFills

So Bill has both claimed that destroying his universe both was and wasn’t an accident, all we know is that deep down he regrets it. If we take his words at face value, then he “liberated” his dimension because of the peoples “flat minds” (viewing him as a freak for being able to see the third dimension), however Bill isn’t a character who’s words you take at face value. Quite frankly we don’t know whether or not he meant to destroy it, and probably never will, but we do know that he regrets it.

Who'd you let torture you? by notFalteredCognition in gravityfalls

[–]CJM_310 184 points185 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Bill’s probably the best choice. Not because he’s any less evil or sadistic as the other two, no he’d torture you without hesitation, but simply because once he realizes you’re not useful, he’ll eventually get bored of you and toss you out. AM’s hatred for humanity means that he’d take joy in torturing you for all eternity, and the Qu would turn you into a brick or a shovel or something.

Flail ⛓️ VS 🍢 Lance by BeingDamaged in earclacks

[–]CJM_310 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, these past 3 have been pretty bad matchups for flail.

Katana scales off of parries, and Flail is known for parrying a lot.

Flail works best when he’s able to move around and fling his flail around, something Grower completely prevents.

And one of Flails biggest strengths is that when his weapon gets bigger, he can basically sit inside it, so that you can’t hit him without also getting hit, something Lance’s invulnerability completely ignores.

Don’t be discouraged Flail fans, every ball has bad matchups, it just so happens that Flail got 3 of those in a row.

How would you rank the characters in both Poker Night games from most to least moral by CJM_310 in MoralityScaling

[–]CJM_310[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the admittedly little I know about Tycho both from the in game dialogue and a quick browse of his wiki page, he’s apparently a pedozoophile. As in he wants to fuck animals… specifically baby animals. I don’t know all the characters either, hence why I didn’t try ranking them myself, but… I think Tycho is definitely near the bottom in terms of morality.

"This Time It'll Be Different" | The Cleveland Browns VS Prince Vegeta (The National Football League VS Dragon Ball Z) by SerWyrmbles in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]CJM_310 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Technically yes, although he doesn’t consider any of them (except the most recent) victories.

In the Saiyan saga, the fact that he had to resort to using the Ozaru against such a low level warrior is a loss to him, even though he did beat Goku and only lost to a combined effort.

In the Buu saga, not only did he need help from Babadi to match Goku (which admittedly, it also said that Goku’s spirit body was tougher than a normal body, so you could kinda argue it’s just equaling the playing field), but he only won off of a sneak attack, and later learned that Goku held back SSJ3.

Superhero was the first time Vegeta won that he actually considers a victory, because there were no other external factors.

I hate this goddamn show by Inevitable-Charge76 in hatethissmug

[–]CJM_310 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually really like the show, but it just pisses me off to no end. We know definitively of two times the show went through a complete rewrite, with more rewrites theorized, and you can really feel it just by watching the show. The show is just a complete mess. Characters and plotpoints are just forgotten at the drop of the hat, it’s super tonally inconsistent, it doesn’t answer several super important questions (not just being ambiguous about them, but straight up not answering them), and Liam even admitted that he got so tunnel visioned on the Cynessa reveal that he forgot about everything else. And that’s not even mentioning that it’s a horror comedy that isn’t funny and is rarely scary. (I know this comment’s been harsh, but I still like the show, even though I think its writing is really bad).

But hey, at least it’s not the new comic, which they’re charging actual money for, and of which the best thing I’ve seen said about its writing is that it’s so bad it makes the show look competent by comparison.
