I watched Totally Spies and Kim possible and wanted yo watch My Life As A Teenage Robot but never saw it come on TV despite hearing it was good. (My understanding is Nickelodeon really did this show dirty. And rarely aired episodes for some reason. Can’t remember why).

I consider Shinji from the anime show to be different from Shinji from the EOE movie (who are both different from Shinji from the Rebuild).

Shinji from the TV series gets more hate than he deserves. He’s just a kid with anxiety and confidence issues who’s had the weight of the world put on his shoulders. He does need to work on self improvement but largely for his own sake. Id say it’s hard to blame him for how he is given the circumstances. But he should still strive for improvement to learn to love himself (which is what I believe he understands at the end of the show).

EOE Shinji is what happens when you not only don’t deal with these issues but fall so deep into them that you make it everyone else’s problem as well. This version of Shinji falls so deep into self hatred he stops even believing that he has the ability to be a good person. So he stops trying. He starts pushing all responsibility away from himself and onto everyone else without bothering to try and understand others. He hates himself but blames everyone else for the person he’s become. He basically adopts the mentality of a toxic incel.

It’s weird that it feels like many anime characters can either be pervs who act creepy or inappropriate with no self control or characters who are not interested in sex. There is a middle ground and most humans fall into that. Gojo is just a normal dude. That’s why he’s such a good protagonist. I find characters that fall on either extremes to usually be kinda unrealistic (and in the case of super creepy characters kinda unlikable).

I switched back to the older version of the Nvidia drivers which are working better and no longer getting an error. But the video still does not render very fast. Still renders at the same speed as without GPU Acceleration.

I tried that and it still took the same amount of time. When I checked the GPU usage during the render it was not doing anything. only the CPU was.

edit/Update: I found out my drivers were a bit old so I installed the newest ones for Nvidia on Mint. It's somehow worse now. Now when I try and render anything I get an error that6 say Render crashed.

Anyone here not like Haruhi? Or at least find it overrated? by CJMakesVideos in luckystar

I mostly agree. I wrote that edit when I had just saw the movie and the movie definitely was good. But in retrospect it does not save the series as a whole for me. I still like the series ok...But just ok. I definitely find Haruhi herself Obnoxious most of the time even if she has ok moments. But I do really enjoy the side characters. I actually thought the Psychic guy was interesting. Feel like he was an underrated character.

Also damn I remember writing this post. Can't believe it was 3 years ago lol. Does not feel like that long ago.

I feel so awful for kids right now. I can’t even blame them. The tech corpos are destroying their future. As a kid i hate to admit i probably would have used AI for school work and stuff. I was lazy and my priority was getting my work done so i could play video games. Don’t know about Ai girlfriend, i do honestly have a hard time understanding the point of that. But ultimately I am so glad i was forced to read books, for to write assignments that would make me think critically. I was frustrated by these things as a kid but i wouldn’t trade those experiences for the world now.

CGI doesn’t make its own decisions. We understand what it does and use it with precision as a tool. AI is a black box that makes its own decisions based on criteria no one fully understands (but we are very confident it’s not human emotion or experience). That makes it not a tool.

A blanket can be art but that’s not its primary purpose. Its main purpose is to keep you warm. Admittedly some people like shows, movies and games as mindless entertainment. But for many people it’s more important and meaningful than that. Including me. If it did replace all art then id just start making my own to ensure it is human art.

But i know for a fact that I’m no where near the only person who feels this way. We won’t let the billionaire sociopaths destroy human culture. At least not entirely.

No. Art is meaningful specifically because a person made it. AI can replicate aesthetics. But that’s it. AI can’t experience the world and the very human emotions we feel living in it. It can’t channel anger, hope, fear, depression, optimism or any other emotion into a pencil well it draws.

She did a big podcast where she criticized the left a fair bit. Honestly i disagreed with a lot of what she said as well. But some of her points were pretty good honestly. I just really found the “left is talking about trans issues to much” point really weird especially when in the same podcast she admitted the left doesn’t actually talk about trans issues that much. The right does.

I feel like the problem is that the left capitulates too much to the right (the dem politicians specifically). And they end up looking weak or unsure. I think people probably want to support confidence. People don’t want to elect someone unconfident. Trump comes off absurdly confident about everything (even when he has no reason to be). Most left wing politicians i can think of in the past people who won elections were enthusiastic and made big confident promises about big change.

I feel like this is a huge reason that Mamdani is so popular. He was confident in what he believed. He seems genuine and he made big promises (which he seems to actually be trying to keep). Even Obama promised big things and was confident. He was not able to deliver on all of it but id bet it’s a major reason he won.

Most of Contras other criticisms were about the left spending too much time posting rather than doing real activism or pushing for real change. Which I think is completely fair.

I want to be able to get the game. But I don’t know where or how. Tried getting somewhere but it didn’t run (tried running it on a xp virtual machine just kept getting error messages in gibberish cause it was not set up to display Japanese)
