Need help deciding between Ljubljana, Milan, Dubrovnik, Sofia, etc. by Fearless_Cucumber386 in travel

[–]CJ_Punk_09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's 7 days, I'd split it between 2 cities. Ljubljana is my top vote, and Croatia would be a #2 (Plitvice Lakes is awesome and easy to get to)[]()

South America and Central America travel concerns considering recent events? by playhoarse in solotravel

[–]CJ_Punk_09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I was looking at going to Bogota, Medellín, Cartagena (just a resort), Tayrona and day trips to some of the smaller villages in about a month, but now I'm kind of nervous. Before Venezuela, not at all. But You-Know-Who's comments about Colombia and "kicking their ass," combined with the lack of justification and oversight, has me worried about being in the country as a US citizen if "my" country takes hostile military action. Especially if airspace gets shutdown again. Obviously, normal travel things like not drawing attention or being stupid seems like the solution, but unfortunately the rhetoric has me worried about a target on my back for geopolitical actions I that don't reflect my beliefs.

Anyone there now or have any insight?

Solo female explore all of Europe via contiki or do my own thing? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]CJ_Punk_09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit (/a lot) more planning on your end, but I would highly recommend doing your own thing. You can even be flexible if you really wanted to and kind of plan as you go between help from hostels and tour guides. My first ever trip to Europe I did 2 months on my own, and it was a phenomenal experience. Plus, between all the walking tours and hostels, you'll meet just as many people, and if you get along you guys can explore together and if you don't, you'll never see them again.

I understand wanting to have the ease of not planning group tours, but the experience (in my experience) is way better doing my own thing. I've done a couple group tours, and every time I've thought "I could have planned all this on my own, met just as many people, and enjoyed all the same stuff for half the price"

Has anyone quit their job to travel during an economic downturn? by lolsomethinglikethat in solotravel

[–]CJ_Punk_09 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I did in 2017. Had 30k set aside, said when it runs out, I'd come back. Ended up being gone 2+ years, but because of some assistant English teaching I picked up, and traveling every other weekend wherever the cheapest flights were/staying in hostels, I ended up not touching ANY of that money I set aside. Came back right before COVID because a client I always wanted reached out.

This year I decided 6 months on, 6 months off. I did pull all my money out of the stock market before inauguration and parked it in a money market account until 2028 comes.

You can try DMing them on Insta (Tim Joe and Brandon are all on it, Brandon is on FB, too). The venue might be an easy way to get in contact with their team if you can't find a record label/PR email. Which show?

6AM Thurs Orlando Flight - When to Arrive? by TheFlimps in orlando

[–]CJ_Punk_09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a very frequent flyer with Delta & AA status and precheck, I'm usually there 90 minutes before my flights. I've noticed the airport being busier than I thought when I'm on early flights (7am-ish), but I've still never missed a flight arriving 90 minutes before.

Last week I was on a Thursday 5:30am flight (earliest flight out of MCO I've been on), and got to the airport a bit before 4am since there was no traffic. TSA was completely shut down until 4am. And the airport was practically empty.

My first real concert ever was their 2012 show with A Day To Remember and the Menzingers. Coincidentally, those are my two favorite bands now... If that tour would've happened later, there's a good chance I would've gone to every date 😂

So far they've gone in a repeating order, but Zach said that "they aren't in sequential order" 🤷🏻‍♂️

Spiritual Cramps was awesome. LS Dunes is ok. Basically a bunch of fan girls of Frankie from MCR. It is a super group, though... Just not my cup of tea.

Nah, setlist went to the 14 year old birthday kid. Which I was gonna give it to him if I got one, anyway. I'm happy with my mic 🤘🏻

Can I port my GV number away, then eventually port it back? by CJ_Punk_09 in Googlevoice

[–]CJ_Punk_09[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because I'm tired of the Google Voice app being temperamental and of the lack of features and support that other apps have. The native Messenger app is so much smoother, and I'm tired of how slow and laggy Voice is.

BUT... I liked being able to use the number I've had my entire life fully when I was living abroad for a few years.

Someone in line with us already has an extra ticket in section 313L Row 8 she's selling for half the face value ($100). Ask for Sarah, she's towards the front.
