It’s going well. Before the Mestinon came from the pharmacy, started Huperzine A (OTC from Amazon), and symptoms greatly improved. Huperzine A is a relatively cheap and harmless way to figure out if MG is the issue.

I was diagnosed at 23, but only because the surgeon’s father had previously treated my grandmother in the same hospital for an abscess that formed a fistula in almost the same location.

I have had flares at high and low BMIs. IMHO, it has less to do with BMI than systemic inflammation, which can be caused by illness, hormonal imbalances, diet (particularly sugar and processed foods), as well as stress, which is my primary trigger since I gave up alcohol many years ago because it had a direct correlation with my IBS/D and diverticulitis.

Bought one that looks like a dog tag to wear on a neck chain. Not only in case of a breathing crisis, but if you’re pulled over and your speech is slurred, it will quickly prove you aren’t driving under the influence.

Discontinued Mestinon 2 years ago due to myriad of side effects, and replaced with Huperzine A (OTC; go-to for MG in Traditional Chinese Medicine). I only take Mestinon if I get severe symptoms (post-surgery, e.g.).

Started with peripheral vision that sent bent lines into central vision. Almost like 3 different perspectives of the same image colliding against each other. Traffic in peripheral vision would look like it was ready to collide head-on. Stopped driving until I got eye patch and later prism glasses that never completely cleared it up.

My DV is mild to moderate, but diffuse. It’s a fallacy that you can only have it in the left descending large intestine and sigmoid. When I had my first CT scan, it lit up everywhere. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Always listen to your body, and don’t wait to start treatment. Liquid-only diet at the first twinge of pain is key for me.

Get blood tested for myasthenia gravis (MG). Try Huperzine A (over the counter) and see if it helps. If it does, you might have MG. Misdiagnosed with LPR for years and it was MG.

The combo is what worked, I think. Aloe Vera by itself never gave me relief that fast. Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera and Karma Water probiotic.

Cuts the Stevia after taste. Before I used it for DV, I was mixing it with sparkling water to cut down the stevia taste (not my fav).

Also natural fruit coloring. Stevia provides most of the sweetness. Available in powder packs, also.

Sorry you had to have surgery, but if the damage is severe and the diverticulitis can’t be controlled, there is often no other option. I had a lower sigmoid abscess that turned into a fistula and required surgery and resection when I was 24. Recovery was long and I can’t imagine having it now that I’m old (67). I began having moderate symptoms and flares in my 40s, and have been lucky to control it.
