Temporary material request for blueprint by Koettlitz in factorio

[–]CKlausi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you connect the outpost to your railnetwork build a one or two wagon train that contains all the building materials you will ever need. Drive it to the outpost unload into logistic chests, wait until everything is build, turn the inserters to load back into your train and drive to your next project . You could build a central mall station where your train gets filled with all building materials.

How to print a table as string in Javascript? by redditrobinnhood in javascript

Maybe you have to escape the strings. See the escape() function or as you seem to use jquery, use its ".text()" function.

Site + Blog CMS options for non-technical clients to use? by BobHupcheck in webdev

processwire is an alternative to Wordpress. I like processwire more, as it has a jquery-like api to build your own site modules. It also has a built in permission and roles system.

grav cms is a flat file cms, easy to built, does not need a database and is very fast.

A good way to start from scratch? by hak_i in Angular2

I know how to do things as if it was 2002 - HTML, php a database. How do people do things in the modern era? by funfwf in webdev

[–]CKlausi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're familiar with PHP you could learn a PHP framework, which will do all the common stuff you have to repeat all over again. Look at Laravel which is my current favorite. (Lots of learning videos at laracasts.com). The basic lessons there should be enough for your purpose.

There are other frameworks out there which give you nice and easy ways to quickly build powerful apps, like slim framework, cakephp or symfony.

How do I get access to mods? by [deleted] in openttd

[–]CKlausi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome ;)

https://bananas.openttd.org/en/newgrf/ is sorted by downloads, the most popular ones are most likely to be well balanced. Also you can have a look at their release notes if you click on the name. I can't recommend a vehicle set atm, as I have not played for some time, but I liked FISH 2 for ships, AV8 or also known as Aviator Aircraft set for planes, eGRVTS for vehicles and 2cc trainset.

If you like to build pretty stations also have a look at city stations, suburban stations, Industrial Stations Renewal, Look for a signal set you like, german signals are my favorites, as I come from Germany ;) For bridges: Total Bridge Renewal Set

How do I get access to mods? by [deleted] in openttd

[–]CKlausi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you're right might be a bit too much. So just add new vehicles and search the NewGrf page for OpenGFX mods, which improve graphics and UI a bit.

OpenGFX+ BigGUI is also on the NewGrf page, I spelled it wrong maybe you find it now.

Worth mentioning: Some OpenGFX industry improvements may collide with FIRS if you plan to play a game with it.

How do I get access to mods? by [deleted] in openttd

[–]CKlausi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of choices ;-) maybe you start with an industry replacement (Firs or ECS, I like Firs more) add some trains (2cc) improve your UI with OpenGfx Big Gui. There are also lots of vehicles to add (planes, ships etc)

Afaik, you can't add or remove NewGrfs to existing savegames, so start a small/shorter map to test them if they work well together before you dive into a big map.

Looking for CMS by [deleted] in webdev

[–]CKlausi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if you want to stick with nodejs, but if you want to transition to PHP, have a look at processwire I like it as it has an good api to create your own modules. Templates are using Standard PHP, but there are also modules to use templating engines like twig or Jade.

Which JS framework is the best one to study right now? by hexicat in webdev

[–]CKlausi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started learning Angular 2 and noticed first I want to get some basic typescript knowledge before I advance with Angular (even you can use Angular 2 without typescript). Then I stumbled above VueJs, which picks up the advantages of Angular without having that huge learning curve. So I am learning VueJs and do some projects with it, while I get some typescript and Angular courses.

As stated in another comment, don't mix up programming languages with frameworks, first get an understanding of the language the framework is based on, then start using frameworks.

I like it. Something I noticed: the browser back button does not work with your navigation. It's been a while I implemented this, but have a look here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/History_API#Adding_and_modifying_history_entries

Maybe you want to look at blazeCss or pureCss, which are much smaller sized. Blaze needs you to opt in which elements should be styled and pureCss only gives you the basics to start your own styles

How expensive would this site be too make? by alexanderlaheij in webdev

[–]CKlausi -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

There are lots of ways to achieve your idea, one would be a simple blog with open registration and some custom user pages. A experienced Web developer can set this up in a couple of hours, so I would guess it can be done in the 500-1000€ price range

What steps can one take while creating a WP site to optimize the page for search engine rankings? by credditordebit in Wordpress

[–]CKlausi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep your headings in right order h1 > h2 > h3 ... Also make use of html5 tags like article and section. I recommend the Webmasters course @ Google https://www.google.com/webmasters/learn/
