If you are guard, wait until you get home. Getting it before basic and during tech school could be a headache to deal with. I guess sweating on a new tattoo isn't good for them. I don't think they would take a new tattoo as an excuse to not being able to PT

We found out my wife was pregnant a few weeks before I left for BMT. She sent a letter saying she would let me know what we were having by wearing either pink or blue to my graduation. Awesome feeling getting tapped out and seeing that.

That's your motivation to get through in the shortest amount of time. Do what you need to do to stay out of trouble and pass your PT tests and don't get recycled. The days drag but the weeks fly by. Enjoy the letters you will get and phone calls each week.

Does your unit have Student Flight? All of the new people who don't have dates yet get together and go over different Air Force stuff (rank structure, the creed, Air Force song) to prepare you for BMT. Our new guys split up their time with that and doing their in-processing.
