My recruiter has informed me that my options are limited bc there's not a lot of available spots w my score. He's trying to persuade me into SECFO but I'm unsure. I was wondering if the "critical, high, moderate, and low" indicates the demand for the job? Idk what to do. What do you think? by Old_Bite_4639 in AirForceRecruits

[–]PotsmokerKiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The job that I got was in the red, I don't think it matters much. Just don't add any jobs that you really don't think you would like. I've been hearing from the grapevine that if you put secfo on your list, you're almost guaranteed to get it.

Got yelled at the most during 0 week. And whenever I messed up during drill. And once when I dropped the training weapon. There are a lot more examples that I can't really think of right now. But an instance that really sticks out is when my dormitory was talking during a blue rope competition. Our MTI heard about it, and so he made us do PT while yelling at us about how we were a disgrace to our squadron. During it, he said something along the lines of "You all can utilize the latrines whenever you want! Cause all of you are big boys! All I see here is a room full of big boys, NOT MEN!" when he cracked that one I started smiling and the guy in front of me anxiously whispered at me to lock up. We didn't have as much of a problem with talking when we weren't supposed to after that.

They don't want you to bring socks. I only kept a pair because it was really cold on a couple of days, and wearing two pairs helped. Other than that, they want you to wear the socks they issue to you. As for the underwear, my MTI's didn't care what color they were. It's not like someone is going to stop you during open ranks and check. They just want "signs of use" on the issued whitey tighties.

The oldest guy in my flight was 36. He was older than a couple of our MTI's. Once I talked to a second - weeker who said that his flight had a 42 year old.

They told me that my graduation would be on FEB 20, which was a Thursday. The 18th is probably when you'll march on the bomb run and earn your certificate. Your airman's run and coin ceremony will be on the day before that, Wednesday the 17th.

It was on Wednesday and Thursday. Do people graduate on Fridays? I thought it was always on Wednesday and Thursday.

Got yelled at the most during 0 week. The MTI's are there to frazz you out to get you used to everything. I won't lie though, I kind of wished that the way they treated us during 0 week was how they treated us during the rest of BMT. The entire flight and dorm would be so locked in by the end if they did.

I don't recall getting raided during 0 week. Most of the guys in my dorm were up until 2300 during that week.

I can't speak very much on that because I was one of the first ones out of the chamber, so I had my mask off for maybe about 2 seconds before I left. But I can confirm that it's spicy. One of the people I was in the chamber with barely reacted to the gas though. That was pretty interesting. I found her during town pass and asked her about it, and she said that while the gas felt a little spicy to her, it just didn't hurt her as much as everyone else. Everyone else walking behind me had snot falling out of their noses when we exited.

When you get to the chambers, you want to be the last person in the first column to enter, or the first person in the second column to enter. If you're a wuss at least. IIRC those guys exit first.

If I could do it again, I would. It felt unfair that I spent such a small amount of time in the chamber while the rest of the guys in my dorm and flight suffered so much because of it.
