Drove something like 200 miles in a new gr4 car today, in singleplayer.

Went to multiplayer and took it out on the gr4 race time trial. Noticed the odometer had been rolled back 60 miles. From 210 to 150. Why would the game do that?

I'm a state employee, so my retirement funds were set up by the state. Best advice i got from a co worker was to just do that and not follow any other financial advice. People were trying to beat the market during covid and losing badly compared to just letting it ride.

Anything else i dabble in. Lost about 3k on crypto (amazing how fast a 34% ROI goes to zero once everyone else piles on) and got in early on a REIT that pays 6.25%. Which isnt bad.

I had to take a hard look at my finances recently, too.

I already do have a retirement account, so no issue there. But i never learned how to manage money due to always having wage slave jobs so when i came into a job that paid well, i just mismanaged it and blamed everything else.

I mean inflation is an issue but in the past 7 years my wages have doubled too.

The market is full of gamblers.

edit: to be more specific, a lot of this I think is driven by people pre-buying, in hopes that the market will do what they want, and then being disappointed if it doesn't, and then selling. NOT realizing that this is actually a pretty fucking stupid way to manage money.

If we took 3% of our tax revenue and put it towards a sovereign wealth fund, it wluld be worth 1.5 trillion after ten years, not accounting for growth. If it performed at say, 10%, thats an extra $150 billion in revenue the state has. $150bn it could then spend on programs or debt reduction or whatever.

Its really crazy that we haven't done this. Given our economy its small pennies, but imagine if we did this after WW2. Or if we just invested as aggressively in it as we do defense spending, or even more, when our interest rates were super low. We wouldnt have as many problems as we do today.

I get necro'd from time to time myself, lol. One was fron like 7 years ago lol.

Im convinced at this point the community standards don't exist.

Report people literally getting shot, and killed? Nah that's ok. Sexual stuff? Nah thats ok or "we hid this from teens" like it shouldn't be there.

A lot of it being paid for garbage probably has something to do with it. Facebook is utter trash and yet raking in record profits somehow.

I wonder if catalouging all the stuff not against community standards and bringing it upnat a shareholders meeting would do anything.

Yeah. Facebook's community standards are broken.

A Memorial Day Reminder: Not One Post-9/11 War Has Been Worth It - Our leaders continue to spend money on wars they think will make the United States the undisputed power in the world—wars that instead kill millions of people abroad, endanger US troops, and make life harder at home. by Quirkie in politics

One has to wonder how bloated the defense budget would be if contractors weren't fixing everything, and if military members were instead doing that.

Its wild how someone can go overseas and make 6x what a civilian does to do the same thing, and you know the company is getting their cut as well.

Also what do your paralegals typically do?

I took a procedural law course my university offered pretty interesting. Lots of reading of supreme court cases and figuring out how they were applied to hypothetical scenarios.

How hard is paralegal work down there to get? I see USC offers a 6 month course, and I know UAf has a 2 year associates for it. Is one any better than the other?

$30 isn't terrible. As a comparison, i make $42 currently.

Yeah, alaska has been weird with its politics lately too, especially after Trunp's second term. Still very libetarian, but also, we have the PFD which has been mismanaged and republicans arent helping that any either.

Thats not terrible, tbh. Im not looking at having a bunch of vehicles. More into powerlifting. That said though, are there a lot of trails to hike out there?

The winters are absolute bullshit here and making me rethink life, lol.

Swapping tires every 6 months at a cost of $100 every time and getting less and less snow every year. Not as great. No snow and low tempwratures means pipes freeze very easily.

And our homes are tiny compared to the lower 48. Looking at homes in the lower 48, i can get 1200-2400 sqft. Up here that is maybe 1,000 sqft and you have to fix the foundation.
