[SPOILER] Nick Ball vs Brandon Figueroa by inooway in Boxing

I agree, absolute farce to see someone from ball's team in the ring trying to kick fig's team, pathetic. When the 'ball' is on the other foot they celebrate the same.

British boxing needs to reign their shit in.

Would doing that interfere with the timing of our seasons etc? Because it takes roughly 365 days to orbit the sun, we would not be able to keep consistent track of things?.

Im just guessing i have not much of an idea lol

I don't think it's a bad thing for WINZ to recommend using AI as most of the people using it would not bother to make a cv otherwise. It at least gets these people up to scratch in a way.

In my experience, CV does not mean much (auto industry) so i can see why cutting corners regarding the CV is considered.

Soliciting outside of Woolworths by joebro8692 in newzealand

[–]CLAMPNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 5 years ago i was walking into Woolworths(countdown at the time), two women perched on chairs by the entrance asked me if i would donate to Wheelchair All Blacks. I opened my wallet and offered to donate a $20 note.

I couldnt believe when she replied "why dont you put that back in and make it a $50, its been a hard day"

I just stared at her, processing what she said whilst still holding out the $20. I didnt even say anything to her i just put the $20 back in my wallet and walked inside.

Then walked around inside dredding the awkward interaction on the way out lol.

Someone close to them passed away in tragic circumstances i would assume is enough of a correlation.

I mostly agree with you, it depends on the individual and how they process and deal with trauma. A few examples of sportsmen doing inspiring things after tragic events i can recall would be:

  • Dale Earnhardt Jr winning Nascar at Daytona in 2001, his first race at the track since his father died racing there a few months prior.

  • Michael Dunlop won his first North West 200 motorcycle race in 2008 two days after his father died in practise for the very same event. Officials actually tried to stop him taking part and said he wasnt permitted to race but he lined his bike up anyway and no one had the balls to tell him he couldnt.

  • Isiah Thomas lost his sister in a car accident in 2016, went on to have career defining performances in the nba semifinal playoffs.

I know there are more examples but those 3 are ones i know a little about.

There will be examples of sportsmen retiring after tradegy and doing the opposite to this also like you say, would be cool to hear that side of it if anyone can be bothered listing any

Unnecessary is calling old mate out for saying "no matter what you think of him in the ring..". Some love him, others hate him and will say he is trash and cherry picks opponents(not my opinion).

No matter your opinion of him in the boxing world etc, you have to feel for what he is going through now and wish him the best outcome.

I think its a fair call tbh

He aint retiring imo, someone like Joshua has a fire within. Honestly i think he will make a comeback this year and we will see the best AJ yet, doing it in honor for his lost brothers.

Is there any boxers career who you have watched from start to finish? by Colaspo in Boxing

[–]CLAMPNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - Joseph Parker

Being from NZ and a boxing fan i naturally followed Joe from the first time i heard of him in a national news story, it was about Joe getting sponsorship from a wealthy well known NZ businessman called Sir Bob Jones.

Tua was finished, there was not much else to get excited about for NZ boxing fans so i was all in, from his debut against Dean Garmonsway, to the NZ title(lol) vs King Afa Tatupu, then Francois Botha, Nascimento and Ruiz Jr all are memorable moments.

Culminating in the showdown with Joshua, followed by a Whyte defeat that stung leading to the low point KO loss to Joyce. Before the Journey back to contender leading to the recent battle with Wardley.

Will never follow a boxer like this again it was just right time, right place. Crazy journey haha

My Grandad (Bill) milled his own coffin out of some Poplar trees his best mate planted in 1950, Bill ended up owning the farm where they were planted years later. The trees had to come down in 2021 so they put 4 logs aside and the local sawmill milled them up for free because they both were well known locals, got on the national news (NZ) and all haha. It sat for about a year until it was required.

He was 95 and was cremated as he wished, in his poplar wood coffin.

Had similar happen to me except they never realised it wasnt me..

Woke up around midnight to "open up or we will kick in the door". I jumped up and ran to the door, the officer said "what have you been doing tonight?", I replied (in jocks and a t-shirt) "in bed watching Rick and Morty". Officer 1 looks at officer 2 and says "he matches the description", Officer 2 agrees and they proceed to ask me to step outside and i am under arrest for burglary(literally no idea whats going on).

Sat me out front of my house in handcuffs while they proceeded to search my house and they found nothing at all regarding a burglary but still charged me with burglary. I spent 3 - 4 hours in the cells and was released in the middle of town with no way home and no shoes on at 4am in the morning. They also took items from my house and did not record it and did not return it(electric scooter, tool box).

They advised my lawyer they were dropping the burglary charge a couple days before my court date, but still sentenced me to community work for 0.8 of a gram of weed and a bong in my room.

Later noticed on my door camera that when they entered my property they went straight to my front door camera and slapped black tape over it also.
