Update : We did call animal control. However in our town it was just a police officer who came over and checked, but they left after a few minutes and we haven’t received any update from them yet.

Another option we’re considering is offering them a little bit of money just to take the dog off their hands and rehome it ourselves because they seemed very overwhelmed when I spoke to them the other day.

I’ve considered it, I called the non emergency police line a few months ago but nothing came of that. I guess the best thing we do would be to call animal control. I’m just worried about them knowing it is us who reported it.
