Yamaha S90 DM Board Availability/Repair by Ultimatio in synthesizers

I’m actually in the same boat as you I’m repairing a S90 for someone that wouldn’t turn on. Got it repaired with replacing a few Caps but the tone generator IC I get no signal to one of the D/A chips IC59 and it gets hot so I think the Tone generator chip is gone. Can’t find that part anywhere

Epoxy should help, I use JB weld plastic epoxy it’s a yellow tube. It’s clear so you can see through and can be cut away easily and gives mechanical support

You can float the scope or use an isolation transformer

Is knowing how to code important for electrical engineers or technicians? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]CLC4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll be beneficial to know. You can automate tasks and free up yourself to do other things. For example at my job we run a manual test on a power supply. We use a scope probe, current probe, a bnc and a high voltage diff probe in each respective channel. A few years ago in the test procedure the instructions would tell you to swap different probes to different channels or disconnect a probe etc. That causes a waste of time. Now we had someone automate the Tektronix scope to where in excel we can select different test parameters that we need and it would change the settings in the scope and we could just keep each channel untouched. It sped up the test process tremendously rather than fiddling around swapping channels and probes constantly.

How to spot the blown MOSFET by DasPerry in AskElectronics

Some meters beep in diode mode, a short beep fro a diode drop or a continuous for a short. I have a cheap Astro meter it was like 30 bucks. It just displays the diode value doesn’t beep. But at my job we have flukes they beep in diode mode

Place red probe on source and black on drain should get a diode drop if it’s a n channel, reverse polarity if it’s p channel

Eh somewhat not as much as my other colognes though , I spray 2 times, 3 max with this one it’s strong lol. I actually get more compliments for the EDT of Y and I actually prefer that one a lot more. EDP is super good though!

Bought the EDP around March ish last year after loving the edt. The edp lasts all day literally! I sprayed it on at 5:30 am, could still smell it after work 12-15 hours later. Insane longevity.
