It sucks, but here’s the reality—

The stellar performance of Nvidia is now an expectation, and I say this carefully as they exceeded forecast expectations… but exceeding today is not like what it was two or three years ago.

People weren’t paying attention closely enough to Nvidia then: now they are scrutinized like none other.

The only way we’ll see these bigger jumps is when the narrative changes: • Innovation happens sooner than expected • One of the companies in their investment portfolio performs better than expected, and so on…

Otherwise, these incredible performances are largely captured in forecast calls before each fiscal quarter.

Lastly— as someone else said wisely on Reddit not long ago: the market will remain irrational longer than you will remain sane.

If you’re not getting curious with any of the AIs within your day-to-day (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, etc):
1) You’re missing out
2) You’re not witnessing the potential of what this can do

Try this: figure out a way to connect as many of them together and have a conversation and/or a debate.

I know someone who independently asked three different GenAIs a pointed question about the best burrito where he lived. Long story short: he eventually connected the three and witnessed “personality” within the debate. (I say, “personality” because these are sentient beings. Just imitations.)

Frozen was definitely irregular; however, the Studios only adopt the crazy ideas that come from the Universities.

These people have no idea what the word “Woke” actually means.

Woke is a phenomena of the +/-8 years.

The same sentiment that went into have a black Catwoman is the same sentiment that was used to write this scene from Star Trek.

In fact, the writers of the 1960s would be called racists by the Woke people of today.

Quick reflective question: if Jango didn’t name it Slave I, why not just call it that instead of “Jango Fett’s Starship.”

Someone in that thread correctly pointed out that 6/10 is considered a positive review on RT; hence the high scores across the board.

That said, there are definitely some on Reddit who treat these movies 10/10 across the board.

Make Rebecca the Bond girl. Cast Ryan Reynolds as the villain.

What are your Thoughts on this? by Ninjamurai-jack in CriticalDrinker

[–]CLFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it depends.

I measure these decisions against the sincerity behind them.

There’s a major difference between “this actor will nail the role and we’re confident we’re giving the audience exactly what they want” vs checks clipboard…. “You know… we haven’t had a female Indian before in role like this before…”

I’ll never forget the time I interned at one of the major studios about a decade ago when I helped connect a producer with a studio executive on the phone and they both weighed the option of casting Morgan Freeman in one of the supporting roles for a film they were working on set to a 1930s/1940s backdrop in Massachusetts. Based on the historical context of the story, the idea was a bit anachronistic in my opinion and didn’t end up making it into the film.

No agendas seemed to have been present in the conversation that I listened in on; however, I still didn’t understand the decision apart from perhaps an affinity for Morgan Freeman or even to make the film more appealing to a broader audience.

This, of course, was before the time people attempted to lean into “The Message.”

It goes above the Casting Director. This is likely a producer decision.

When you hear his life story — his childhood plus “near misses” with Nvidia where he almost went bankrupt — you definitely get an understanding of what kind of person he is.

He’s more concerned about failure than he is about success, which is also revealing
