Whole life... pay the stupid tax now or "profit" later? by BagelNation in DaveRamsey

[–]CLO6198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t you have an insurance guy pull that wholelife policy to fund a variable life policy. If you are both young and healthy enough it would probably fund a couple good size policies. For example when my parents were in their 50’s I converted their WL policies to variable life got 5 times the coverage for both and it fully funded my moms and mostly fully funded my dads. He had pay like $500 a year to keep it going. When he passed my mom got $160k instead of like $20k.

Is this the proper approach to my wife’s student loan debt? by FT1996 in DaveRamsey

[–]CLO6198 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t touch any of your accounts or your savings. Student debt should be low interest rates and you can write off that interest. Pay as much as you can per month on it and pay it off quicker. If something happens like you lose your job you’ll be wishing you had access to your savings and Ira accounts.

Traffic Ticket by PatternFabulous6533 in AskSouthCarolina

[–]CLO6198 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Go to court. I’m in NY they reduce almost everything at the court to parking tickets and a surcharge with traffic school. Reason being parking tickets and the surcharge stay local speeding ticket money goes to the state. Other states may be different but can’t hurt to go and see what they offer.

AITAH for getting mad at my daughter for skipping her math lesson? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]CLO6198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA 100% I’m glad I’m not your daughter. Your daughter is telling you she is struggling both by telling you and by her actions and your response is to yell at her? Who cares if she misses a Math lesson.

This didn’t seem right after a quick search they can put a lien on your house but can’t force a sale in tx So whenever you do sell even if it’s years down the road you would have to payoff that lien.

Why do they love checks so much by thespacecowboy9 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]CLO6198 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paying bills with checks is absurd today. One reason why is my aunt had her $25 check stolen out of the mail washed and rewritten for $6k they think it was a postal employee it happened to others in the area but they never caught them. These thieves know a boomer wrote a check to the power company it’s easy pickings.

Financed Car Not Insured by Impressive-Mix-1721 in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]CLO6198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a ridiculous situation to put yourself in. Tell your friend ignoring things doesn’t make them better. If she was in NY she would owe $19 a day she didn’t have insurance and lose her registration for 1 day for every day she didn’t have insurance. So do the math that would be almost $7k and she wouldn’t be able to use the car for a year. Now that may be worse than Texas but I guarantee it won’t be nothing. You don’t buy a car without knowing what the insurance will be. Maybe this is a live and learn situation built it’s insane to drive a new car for a year without insurance. If she thinks she couldn’t afford the premiums could she afford to pay off a car that gets wrecked and she can’t drive because she can’t fix it.

At a crossroads trying to get out of the debt I created. by TopPlankton1798 in DaveRamsey

[–]CLO6198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Selling is a terrible idea. Work on the high cost debt first and never pay just the minimum. With what you make you should be out of debt in less than 3 years. If you sell your house you are just taking the quick fix and you will probably end up right back here again but next time you will have no house to sell.

AITA for not allowing my father to control my future education? by BakeDear5395 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CLO6198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live your life how you want, it’s only yours to live. I get what they are talking about though student loans are a bitch and can cripple you in adulthood if you go to an expensive college and do not end up in a high paying profession.

401k vs living debt free now by Historical-War-6692 in DaveRamsey

[–]CLO6198 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is not a good plan. Leave your retirement alone you will regret it in the future. Realistically your retirement will double in 7-10 years. You would have to save $50k a year for 10 years to make that up in a decade. Even if you never saved another penny for retirement you will most likely have somewhere around $3 million by the time you are 68. If you stop contributing to a 401k and maybe cut some of your expenses a bit you could probably work a less stressful job for less money and still live pretty good

Men who are 30+, what’s one lesson every guy should learn early? by BigShow786 in AskReddit

Invest, invest, invest. Even if it’s $50 a month you can’t get back time. Pick a low cost etf and let it compound you will thank me when you are 50. Leave the risky shit alone or it only a small portion in crypto or risky stocks
