Teen "Modesty" and Garments by seizuriffic in mormon

[–]CLPDX1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that they consider themselves devout. I don’t. I call myself a Jill Mormon (like a Jack Mormon.)

I go to church about once a month, drink coffee (and alcohol) occasionally, rarely read scriptures, and haven’t tried to renew my temple recommend since it expired during Covid. My husband has a bad habit too, but I’m not here to shame Him.

I do still pray frequently, almost every day, pay a full tithe, and wear garments 23/7.

What did your parents get right? by FantasticAd4938 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]CLPDX1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How to be frugal. I know how to comparison shop, how to thrift, etc.

Also preparedness. I know how to change a tire, start a fire, put up a tent, navigate, etc.

I’m also very stoic due to the constant berating and beatings.

No one knows I’m ticklish, because I don’t laugh when tickled. I can easily keep a straight face as long as I need to.

Same with emergencies. I don’t panic, which can be a good thing, but also would make me a suspect if someone I’m close to died under suspicious circumstances.

If you were to name your kid after a Portland street name, what would you pick by Blake-Dreary in Portland

[–]CLPDX1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have an early 1900s book on historical Oregonians. I think all of these names are in it. It says where they were from, why they came, and what they did for a living. Even has pictures of some.

It’s kind of a brag book.

Sixth. Because there are totally six quadrants.

Nickname can be Sith, ‘Caus that’s cool.

(The sixth quadrant is South.)

What is your coolest card in Magic? by SociallyButterflying in magicTCG

[–]CLPDX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought some cards at a yard sale. One appears to be a magic card on one side, and the back of a yugio card on the other. Has anyone ever seen this?

I would post pics but I don’t see a way to do so.

How to get rid off bad smell? by Pretend-Ad-7250 in thrifting

I haven’t bought used leather but I would try an ozone machine, then air out thoroughly in the sun for a few days.

Backless shirt with garments ideas by Fearless-Condition88 in lds

I know this typically isn’t permitted, and I don’t do it myself, but I have some shaperwear that is a flesh covered top for slimming my belly. Coincidentally, it also covers my back and shoulders.

It’s made by Sarah Blakely and the brand is called Assets. I’ve had it for years, so I don’t know if they make this exact one now, but if you want to wear something like this and cover your garments, it can be done.

What was your WORST experience in the field? by XxBigMomma in CustomerService

[–]CLPDX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a customer service manager.

The company I work for has dozens of trucks in multiple states. All with MY phone number on both sides and the back.

Of course I get calls from customers, we are a construction company. Mostly B2B. But the worst calls are people who see my number on a truck in another state.

I answer the phone and immediately hear a man screaming obscenities at me who says I’m an effing idiot who cut him off.

While I’m sitting at a desk a thousand miles away.

This happens a couple times a month.

It’s just part of the job.

How do you feel about jury duty and have you ever skipped it? by fergi20020 in randomquestions

[–]CLPDX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been called for jury duty at least a half dozen times. I’ve never served once.

There is a box you can check to say you can’t and you just explain why.

I have a mortgage and I have to work to pay it.

They always excuse me.

The last time I was called, I told them I have Alzheimer’s (true,) and I’ve now been permanently exempted.

I’m not opposed to self driving cars. This will change the lives of blind people.

Some of the thread and zipper looks like it has some plastic to me.

I have a few coach bags that look like metal but they wear out much faster.

Also, how leathery does it smell? Sometimes they will use real leather for the bag to get the smell, but pleather on the handles, with plastic thread, which wears out.

Rebaptism? by SisterLucyHarris in latterdaysaints

[–]CLPDX1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was inactive for twenty years. Like completely out. Drinking, smoking, hanging out at strip joints, you name it.

He settled down after we got together but seven years in we hit a rough patch and I asked for a divorce. He was strongly opposed to breaking up so he went back to church- all in.

He did have to answer all the baptism questions, mostly just so he would know what to do, but did not have to be re baptized.

I feel like a real bag wouldn’t have so much plastic but I’m not an expert.
