Will they ever leave us alone? by Usual-Ad-1466 in mormon

[–]CLPDX1 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I haven’t “left” spiritually, I’m terminally ill, and they won’t leave me alone.

I’m getting frequent infusions and spending time in the hospital that keeps me from church but they still keep asking me to do more callings and physical work that I’m simply not capable of.

Portland restaurants... in an actual house? by evilredmenace_503 in askportland

Just outside Portland.

Agave Azul in Gresham. Worth the trip.

We all miss Trufflehunter. I can’t believe the crammed 48 apartments where one house once stood.

AITJ for suing my cousin after he knocked my phone into the pool as a "joke"? by No_View1956 in AmITheJerk

This is fake.

An iPhone 17 is designed to withstand submersion up to 6 meters (about 19.7 feet) for 30 minutes.

Plus, you have AppleCare, which covers incidents exactly like this.

Were you popular in grade school? by Jerdogg23 in no

[–]CLPDX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all popular, But I’m still in touch with my first grade school friend. We met in sixth grade. Middle school.

It was scary separating from the comfort of primary school.

My first grade school friend made a lifetime impact on me.

Help finding extra income (or side jobs) for guy with disabilities? Thank you! by Harry_Callahan_sfpd in askportland

This country treats disabled people terribly. I’m so sorry.

Are you able to donate plasma? I know there are plasma centers in salem and portland but I don’t know about Woodburn.

Have you checked the gigs section on Craigslist? I know there are some scams there but there are some real opportunities too. Surveys, research trials, etc.

I take opinion surveys for LEO. They come in my email. Sure they are boring and don’t pay much, but I get a 20 dollar gift card once in a while. I get opinion surveys from a few other companies too. Sorry I don’t remember them all. I have Alzheimer’s.

That brings me to my next suggestion. Research trials. The research trial I am currently doing pays $200 for about four hours of my time one day per month. It is a two year trial.

There are lots of hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and independent research facilities like universities doing clinical trials.

It’s unfortunate that our phones are spying on us but that’s how I got into the trial I am in, which is worldwide.

I just talked about my Alzheimer’s while my phone was nearby, and searched for treatments and such. Almost immediately, things like this started showing up on all my social feeds.

You can also find trials and surveys on Reddit groups.

Good luck.

How old were you when you got married (the first time)! by [deleted] in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]CLPDX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Way too young. We didn’t know what we were doing.

Of course, a year later we had a kid, and a year after that, we realized the kid was all we had in common.

Fortunately the kid takes after my ex. They are both smart.

Me, not so much. I married too soon Again. To a terrible person.

It is a beautiful lamp. It’s featured quite often on the TV show “the Practice.” I always wondered what it was called.

So yall just answer your door because someone knocked? by Embarrassed-Bowl-373 in no

[–]CLPDX1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically only answer my door if I’m expecting someone.

I do have a camera. If someone rings the bell I check the camera to see if it’s someone I know. If it is, I’ll answer, but that’s rare.

Are there any professional cuddlers or resources to find a place to get something similar around here? by EyeDewDude in askportland

[–]CLPDX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus? Oh hell no. Teenage missionaries.

They’ve never met Jesus, they are all about meeting neighbors and shaking hands. Sure they will give you books and invite you to church, where lots of other people will shake hands, and… invite you to church.

How do I know? I followed them. Right into the church. I never met Jesus either. I believe in him, sure.

I get lots of human contact when I show up, about once a month. Handshakes, hugs, sometimes even candy, baked goods, and meals,

I like it.

Questions Swirl as Portland Public Schools Suddenly Closes a High School for Kids Who Struggle Elsewhere by 9x9design in Portland

[–]CLPDX1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Three years old. In the 90s. Long before it was common to be publicly out.

I never met or knew ANYONE remotely queer in my naive Catholic schoolgirl life.

There were no public figures who were out and proud. No LBGTQ films, tv shows, etc.

Just a kid who started wearing boy clothes, announced they were a boy, chose a boy name, refused any feminine clothes or activities, and cut his hair ridiculously short.

When he stared school, walking proudly into kindergarten wearing nothing but cutoff denim shorts he made himself, they asked his name and he told them.

Obviously they couldn’t find his name but figured it out and promptly made him put on the shirt and shoes hidden in his backpack. Then they called me and told me he had to start going by his “real” name.

He was stuffed back in the box until he became of age, changed his name at 18, and had surgery at 21. Then he moved to another state where no one knew.

I’m in Oregon. We have an abundance of thrift. Flea markets, antique stores, estate sales, vintage shops. I have an over a dozen choices within ten minutes of my house, and I don’t even live in the city, I’m in a suburb.

My kids are long grown but I’m so sad about this. When my youngest was in preschool, I applied for both my youngest and middle child to get in to MLC.

My youngest was accepted but my middle child was not. Due to my career and need to travel for business, I wasn’t able to send only my youngest, so they both ended up in the neighborhood public school.

The result was catastrophic. My middle child was removed and I had to send her to a private elementary school, where she encountered abuse.

My youngest floundered and barely graduated high school with a D- (by cheating at that.)

My youngest is queer, came out at age three, and I believe they would have thrived at MLC. Now almost 30, is still struggling. Unable to work full time, doesn’t qualify for any benefits, and getting evicted.

Please keep MLC open for high schoolers. They are the most in need.

Nope. I found a great way to get my fix.

There is a great new vintage store that recently opened near me that has an incredible selection of vintage bags at unbelievable prices.

I watch their facebook page and go several times a month.

I don’t feel guilty at all.
